Thermoelectric wine cooler drying and curing - DIY

Has anyone tried the cigar humidors since they already have built in humidifiers? I would of course remove the cedar trays and replace with metal or stainless steel, just wondering if anyone has taken this route?

They have been discussed on this thread some, I think the biggest issue is they are meant to keep humidity in, not remove it. The cigars are supposed to be dried and cured before putting them in, the electric humidors have a humidifier inside, but most don’t have a dehumidifier. They would be perfect for curing in, not so sure about drying.

i think if you did some leg work they could be nice, you would have to add a dehumi and a few mods to control both the deh and the hum. in theory if you had something running a logic system it could go from dry to a cure.

My lung room stays at about 55% humidity with the central air running at about 71 but I didn't think of it that way. I know the fresh buds are going to drive up the humidity. On to purchase a Koolatron if that's the case.

I like them but I don't think I would want to take up more space inside running both a humidifier and dehumidifier.
