Hey every body- this is my first time growing, so expect a bumpy ride-

START UP:

A 3x3x6ft grow tent with a 400w lamp. (Both a MH and HPS bulb)

Four white widow female seeds

Dirt/Planters

Sorry about lack of pictures- ill get them when it seams like its prudent.

SO it's day three and already i have three sprouts about 4 inches tall in the tent. It seams a little hot in the tent about 75-80, but nothing too worry some, i don't think.

I have the plants in those smaller pre planters that let you place them right into biggger planters and dissolve in the dirt, has any one used them before, and if so, how did they fare?

So far so good......

p.s. i named the plants Lisa 1, Lisa 2 and Lisa 3.

welcome mill house, hope the name is not after Nixon. Sounds like you have a plan and have done some research. Those perplanters will work just fine. You say they disolve into the dirt so I am assuming they are peat. If they have netting on the outside be sure and cut that off when your transplant. Yuo are right the temperature is nothing to worry about, ventilation will need to be closley watched though. You do have a fan blowing gently on the plants?
Are you using the 400 watt now? Do you have exhaust and intake? Maybe a picture would be prudent now?? Some cell phones take pictures or so I've heard. Clever numbering system.

1) I took the netting off- so that shouldn't be a problem- although i'm not sure how big they should get before I move them.

2) I am going to grab a small fan tomorrow- so that should be good-

3) I am using the 400w right now- its the only light i have.

4) I'm gonna do pictures toorrow as well- hopefully-

Ok, just some quick stuff-

I'm planting in some random miracle grow soil, and have not touched or researched nutrients in any way so far, not quite sure about them to be honest. I have a timer on the light and I am on the 18/6 schedual. i think thats all.

Thanks,

Millhouse

ok here are the pics promised. so i've had some problems with yellowing on the plants, and did some reading andfound it probly is a nitrogen problem. I went and got some foxfarm ntes, and im starting them in hopes of solving the problem.

another set of leaves on all the plants, but they are still tiny, with shaky stems. hopefully every thing gets back on track in the next couple of days.

quick question to some one: how many times do you find your self watering? i haven't been able to find a good schedual and it can't be good for the little lisa 1,2, or 3.

So, it being presidents day and all here is the state of the union. To be blunt, lisa 3 went down over night- and so i down to lisa's 1 and 2. They seam to be ok, except that the yyellowing continues on some leaves, and growth seams to be stunted. i orderd some nutes and they should arrive any day- hopefully it will move us forward.

Lets hope lisa 3 gave her life for the good of us all.

"I say, we must move forward, not backward, upward not forward,
and always twirling, twirling, twirling towards freedom."

I moved the light a little closer the plants, and added three new germinated seeds tothe mix. I checked the ph and it is around 6.8-7.0 which isnt great, but ok. new sets of leavs on the plants, but again, they haven't gained any verticality latly. I think the rest of my supplies are coming soon, so i'll update when it gets to that point.

when you do decide to use nutes, start with a very weak dose (i start at 1/4 strength). graduate to 100% over a few weeks. also, flushing will remove any build up of salts that may be introduced by nutes. flushing is basically throwing about 3x the normal water (with no nutes) through your plants (do this in a tub or sink). if you have started to use nutes at full strength i would flush asap, and the next watering use straight water. i would suggest getting a moisture meter. they are priceless. i was able to pick one up at a local lowes store for about $15. it's good to let the soil dry out, it promotes good root growth.

thanks le1337need- i am currently easing them onto the nutes. they are looking ok, nothing spectacular, not the deep green i'd expect.
also got a thermometer/humidity thingie- and a tester for the soil.

temp has been around 80's.

i am hoping to see some verticle growth in the next two weeks- i'm seeing another set of leaves on lisa 1, and hopefully she starts to grow.

pictures later tonight.

in the middle is lisa 1- she is having some yellowing, and not growing too high. also the smaller guys around her are all looking good, and have all straigtened out since the pic.

So I am down to four plants, (see pics) three of them, which were planted a week after the first, are doing ok, good green color, growing a little each day, each are about 4-6 inches. I also added a continaer of water to the room to increase the humidity. Temp is stable at 79-84f.

I have gotten my watering scedual down right now, with the smaller peat held plants getting water each night at 11 when the light goes out. the other, which is in a bigger holder gets water every other day, asthe soil seams to be keeping wet.I know its a bit early, but when do people think it wiull be possible to figure out if they are girls or boys?

I am going to assume they are girls right now, and are going to name them accordingly. We already have lisa, so im gonna call the other three marge, patty and selma.

ill be updating as things progress.

excellent in keeping with the simpsons theme. i believe it's most beneficial if the plants receive their watering when the lights turn on for the day. plants are looking good though!

i'm starting to see a little brown discoloration some of the plants, i think its from over watering/too much nutes, so i'm gonna add less water over the next couple of days.

unfortunatly- i went out for afew days, and forgot to have the plants watered.

R.I.P.

too bad, i though i was making progress.

i am germinating new seeds, and i'm gonna start a new jouirnal, i'll provide a new link to it when it starts.

pray for mojo.
