The super closet is on the way

I think that lots of people are measuring temps directly in the light. I''m pretty sure that temps must be measured in the shade. I wish I could find something definitive on this.

I know that if you want to know the temperature outdoors you never take your reading in direct sunlight.

In my cab, with all the fans on, the temp after three hours directly under the light was like 95 degrees. However, when I measured the temp in the shade it was closesr to 75 degrees. I think that the 75 degree reading is closer to the true temp in the cab.

I think that measuring the temp in the direct light is measuring the radiant energy of the lamp.

I use an in/out thermometer for both of my flowering rooms...

The sensor is adjusted to the top of the canopy at all times. It
reads on average 76F with the fan blowing in between the tops and
the light.

This is the best way to gauge an accurate temp IMO. Temps aren't the
problem for mine though, it's the light distance that can synch the buds
if not trained right. That's another topic though.

Hey Johnny, nice looking plants u got there . How much longer do u think they will be? Did you take clones of these?

Hey chiceh...I actually just posted that to show where my sensor is
but thanks.

WW finishes around day 60, so we'll see how they look in a few weeks.

I was kind of pissed that I didn't keep the two ww clones that were
taken from a girl I though was a male...woops.

It's ok though, I seeded that hermie on the left, and should be getting
plenty of healthy WW seeds...

Cool Johhny, you will have a nice new year crop. I just cut all mine down yesterday. It is drying now, just in time for the holidays, lol.:peace:

Hey Jonny or anyone with SC experience,

Thanks for the pics and explanation. It looks like the SC uses only computer fans for exhaust. I was worried that they wouldn't be powerful enough. In the pics, it looks like two of the fans are connected to the light vent tubing? are they both exhausting from different directions or is one blowing in and the other blowing out? Does that odor sock work well for you? any noticable odor in the room with your SC? Is air intake to the SC all passive? Does the room in which you keep the SC warm up a lot when in use?

Sorry for all of the questions, I'm just trying to work out all of the kinks before setting to work. I would hate to start cutting holes in my cabinet and then later wish I had set things up differently.

I had planned on setting it up in my laundry room. There is a vent in the ceiling of the room, a dryer vent, a drain for the washer, and a water connection. I was thinking about venting the hot air out through a Y in the dryer vent tubing. I could also Y into the water connection and use a small hose to refill my reservoir, etc. If it gets too hot in the room, I could just turn on the ceiling exhaust fan. Do you think it is necessary to vent out of the room? If so, do you think it would be more important to vent out the hot air from the hood or the air filtered from the cabinet?

Thanks in advance for the reply. Again, I am sorry for asking so many questions, but I figured that since you have experience with the type of cabinet I am trying to build, it would be wise to ask :). When I actually start construction, I'll be sure to start a journal.

Yeah, I'm actually pretty pissed that my SC is not here yet... I ordered it at the begining of November and he said that he should be here last wednesday and still no go so i just called him again today but no answer!! I'm gettin a little irriatated and am going to see if i can't get him to send me some 4" rockwool cubes for it taking so damn long to get here... atleast that way i can get my SOG technique started as soon as it gets here because my roomate has already started growing some blueberry feminized seeds a month ago and are just perfect for the taking right now... Then my plan is to germinate my BC God Bud and try to sex up my blueberry chicas with a male God Bud and create a Blue God mix that i'm hoping is going to be sick nasty! :)

About all the questions with the super closet, i have no idea what type of fans it uses or anything cause it hasn't come yet, but when it gets here i will take several pics of the inside and outside of the cab

So if you has marked this as a thread, keep up with it because i'm sure i'm going to need some assistance as i go through my first grow....

stealth boxes work well in limited space....you can buy them at home depot called a c-29 wardrobe closet. Cut all the holes yourself and seal with window insulation. DONE at a light and a tray support, two 70 cfm fans in the shelf area, and plenty of intake ventilation. Cost you about 150.00. Plus the interior is already bright white.

Hey martin, sorry to hear about it taking so long. You must be
a ways from Cali...Have someone there to help you when it arrives,
and make sure it's being delivered on a truck with a lift gate.
Stay patient, she will come.

On my model, there is only one fan pushing air through the ducts. With
martins model, there will also be another fan pulling the air out through
the back. You can't exhaust in different directions.
During the summer my room can get warm, but nothing serious.

About your setup...It's more important to vent the air from the hood, but
if you can setup that Y duct to vent the room as well.

That 'odor sock' (cocoa carbon filter) works perfect for my system when
the door is closed...no odor at all.

Any more questions just holler...GL:joint:

Okay! so my super closet finally came!!! :) I'm super stoked!! My roomate has actully been growing 6 female blueberry's in a little homemade cabinet that he built and now i'm giong to take the clones from his best looking plant ( which i might add is amazingly beautiful) I plan on taking anywhere from 12 to 16 plants. My super closet came with a super cloner that has a capacity of 16 clones so that will be the max that i can work with... Pictures should be posted by tomorrow night stay tuned

Quote from Momartin31:
So any ideas on why my germinated seeds aren't sproutting after 6 days?

Hey Mo, I didn't want to clutter JB's journal with my response to your question there, so I decided to post here in your thread.

Have your seeds cracked yet? If so, Awesome.

If not, what, exactly did you do? The "paper towel method" is my preferred germination technique.

Thanks for that...I actually pm'd him for that reason.

I used to put them on-top of the heat pad and they
would germ. in a few days. I got lazy and that pad
dried them up quickly so I stopped that. It's a sure
fire method though...just check them often.

Hey Solo, how's the cab running...

Well yeah they cracked and the tail came out of the seed, but when i put them into the RW none of them sprouted... I've grown with perlite before and i just stuck the germinated seed into the mix and up they sprouted in like 4 to 5 days, Now i waited 5 or more days and nothing so i disected one of the RW cubes and two of the seeds still had the tail with no growth and the other two the seeds were just soft with some white coming out but the tail was gone and seed was just full of white pus.

Hey JB 88,
What's the word on your SC?? Is it working well still. I just ordered one with the 600hps. I believe they have encapsulated the light for better heat exhaust. They are building mine now. Hope I don't have problems with the heat, as leaving the door open isn't an option for me.
