I am not post this to bash LED but all the MMJ and other types of growing lights have dangers so be wary and careful.

Good sunglasses and hats like a baseball cap or bigger brim are minimums. Also if you are going to spend a lot of time in the room, turn off the bright lights or dim them.

I personally hate metal halide because it can and does cause skin cancer. CMH, though I never used, is pretty scary because the light almost arcs.

Some be careful everyone. This video is very good. Again - I am not bashing but everyone be safe. :-)

my a19 led household bulbs gave me a third testicle and made my penis look smaller ; wasn't happy..............

Now I switched to meat cobs and my dick is getting bigger from all the 660nm "radiation"? I think

I'll update my balls status on the next run........i have to go back outside to play in the perfectly safe sunlight.

The real danger is high voltage running through exposed wiring on DIY builds. Plus metal frames that aren't grounded, damp locations occupied by stoners, and no GFCI.

I bet your life insurance won't pay out if you get zapped by your homebrew high voltage light.

*if* flicker is really a health concern, sunglasses and hats arent going to help you.

if thats a big deal to you get a flicker-free driver like a meanwell IDLC or ODLC

Hi! Is there a difference between a surge protection socket and a GFCI socket?

    chiqifella Well-Known Member

insurance will pay if you cut your own head off. some have a period of time like a year after policy purchase, and during that time you cant electrocute yourself and still get a pay out, but after that its no biggy.

    yeah, there is a difference
    try google mate

A GFCI protects from ground faults (such as an electrical short), whereas a surge protector protects against surges (such as a lightning strike or a power outage)

I think what you really need to prevent these "dangers" is an aluminum hat, because LED lights are really mind control devices. With built-in chem trail generators of course!

Hang your fucking lights below eye level.

Only LED I am scared of is COBS, we light cigarettes with COBs running only 80W

    Metal halide causes skin cancer?

    That's a new one.

But so does too much strong sunlight so if you never leave mummy's basement you'll be ok...

PS. What kind of light do you think CMH is, and since you've used it you can tell us all about your melanoma..

almost every bulb produced in last 50 years has come with warnings

I found that the 315 CMH was really when it started effecting my eyes. The UV is hard on you. I now have an awesome set of grow room shades (not the blurple cancellers but a different UV kind) and I kind of like being tanned all winter so I just soak it up.

4 plants means it is 5 minutes a day 3 days a week. But the eye protection should be a mandatory part of any indoor garden. They are not that expensive.

Mercola is just a modern day snake oil salesmen, how the fuck they haven't pulled his license I surely don't know. That man should be ashamed of himself Profiting off the ignorance of others. When someone finally kicks his ass I hope there is video of it, so I can watch the beat down.

Lets not forget some of the physical dangers of DIY LED light design and assembly!
In no particular order : Headaches from staring at data sheets, getting bitched out by the wife, thermal paste poisoning,Soldering iron burns, aluminum shaving splinters from drilling, the occasional wire stripper pinch, minor electrical shock, up to full on cardiac arrest from electrocution.....
