The Main-Lining Thread

i think the issue with fimming is that the root mass wont be there when the canopy is ready to be fimmed for 4/8. also, once you get to 4 head or greater, if you attempt to fem you could have issue retaining dominance in all the young growth tips, resulting in arms of the hub that are falling behind. you're also trying to stimulate the overall health of your plants "vascular cambium" (nugbuckets term of the day), resulting in THICK, strong branches on all 8 of the "spokes" in your ML hub, which eventually results in massive colas on all dominant growth heads.

I have a young simetrical clone that I toped 2 days ago and now I have one leader and one shoot laging behind but the 2 below that I would use for clones are growingnice and even. So I am thinking of taking the top 2 as the clones and bonding the bottom 2. my concern is that I wanted to keep it simetrical as long as I could whichin my mind means to always take the lowest branches as clones. so how many generations of clones can you get before they start alting nodes. how many simetrical clones do I loose by going off the second node of a clone from the first true node..... does that make sense? I am on my first ML now and wanted to be able to get as many simetrical runs in as I could before playing with alts. The one ML going now if you count from where the clones came off of I have about 7 nodes before they alt am I right in thinking I could get up to y batches of clone before alting out?

You could bend over just one of your two main's first, and divert the growth hormones to the shorter node. So long as the plant is healthy when you take your clones, it shouldn't take much longer by taking the tops. But, i have tried just using the bottom set to bond after i snapped off one of the top mains...and they stretched out a lot on me, and i didnt like the way it was turning out so i said eff it. That would be why I only have my Space Bomb #2 clone in flower... as if i had room for one more anyway... :P

I'm on gen 3 clones right now and you have to imagine it as one plant and you just cut the tip off of the stem and you are just growing that out. From my experiance they go away on the 3rd gen but it will inevitably be unilateral. Or alternating. So might as well just accept the fact that you are going to have to pinch the dom tip till it give and then lay it over and anchor it. The bastard will stand back up if you let it. That will do 2 things. Start you manifold AND it will slow growth on that tip and the weaker one will have time to catch up. I theorize that you would have to do less pinching if you did a more LST method of training the other one. Like take the weaker one and bend it over being carefull not to do what you did to the other side that way when the one you fucked up catches her stride the other one is already in hers and it seems at that pace the rate of growth would even out. I don't think it would look as "sexy" BUT what's better? Killer in the sac, or fun to look at but a dead fish! PROFICIENCY!! I'm also high so I'm totally open to a full veto.

If you want to flower with t5's. 8 bulb- get 4 UVL Redsuns and 4 Zoo med flora suns. The bulbs only last around 10 months and light output degrades as fast as hid bulbs. But a much higher par (1800 umoles). How light is measured. The sun at midday is 2000 umoles. Digilux 1000 w hps is 855 umoles. (growers house) . Par t5 Gets a much higher grams per watt yield than a 1000 w hps. Replacement t5 bulbs gets very costly. The best lighting imo is inda gro induction, Area51 led, Apache Tech led, Hans led and magnum plus 2 led.

Since t5 is linear and not a single point of light ( inverse square law) you want to have the light about 2-4 inches away from canopy for best results.

On another note finally found a strain good for main lining. Dj short whitacker ]blues . Does not branch out for shit. You have to top it to force it. All my other strains got double the yield doing lst.

Day 18 12/12

I now realize how much indica or sativa a strain has is irrelevant to main lining. You want a strain that if not topped or trained at all would only produce a single cola. No secondary lateral branches at all. Those strains are much better for lst.

The whitacker is blueberry x quimby. 80% indica, 20% sativa. Out of all the blueberry and whitacker seeds I had. This was the only female. This one is seed. Imo clones produce better quality and yield than seeds. The next clones off this should be much better.

i was thinking of doing a grow with t5s just to cure my curiosity.. i figured you have to sacrifice yeild but gain quality...be nice to yeild and quality!

Here is a pic of my canopy at Day 13 flower... Space Bomb #1 is the stretcher of the group. Space Bomb #2 stayed nice and squat like the 2 Space Dawg phenos in there.

The Space Bomb are the closest to the camera, and Space Dawg are the two tucked in behind. Space Dawg looked super happy, leaves were reaching for the lamp! Space Bomb #2 fits right in the middle of all 4.

There are some individual plant shots on my thread if anyone cares to see... better quality anyway. DUB
