Wow, wow... No need to talk like that!

I am not asking questions to be bashed! I am asking questions to learn; I can guarantee, once I have got the concept down, the finnished product will be great; but to not ask questions because I am confused is messed up.

I will have space to tie down, as I'm using 1gal,3gal pots.

I'll pm you for some advice since others want to bash instead of help...

I don't mean to bash, "holding your dick while you pee" is a old military saying, don't be so touchy.


You need to be able to try and fail, don't expect for everything to be perfect from the get go.

Hold on there geekmike, I didnt ask the question because I knew the answer. I read from page 01 to page 08, and will continue to read all 272 pages. I was a investor and owner of a very successful nursery from early 80s to mid 2000s; my experience has always proved me, if you don't ask, you dont know.

So for that being said I wanted to ask the questions I may already know, to only build a stronger foundation. Weak foundation will only result in bad results because I missed a step or two. I'm the type of guy who wants to know the why and how, not just the how.

I ask these questions to better educate my self. I notice most of you guys are soil growers, I am a hydro grower; not much info was posted for hydro set ups, but just to know I'd not be a leech and get all the info and never come back to give my feedback and help other growers that might have questions for hydro set ups. I'm a sponge budda, I soak up all the advice & input and I put it to good use.

I asked what a node was, even if I knew the answer I still asked it. I asked how do I top, when do I top, and where do I top. How do I create 2 nodes, 4 nodes, 6 nodes, etc.

Can we use pictures to demonstrate this. (Please do not tell me to grow plants, and learn from your mistakes) I will first have a clear understanding, then have a strong forefront of the fundamentals so when I do grow, I can understand what I am doing and not be a mess when doing it. I want to understand the grow process rather taking a bunch of sticky balls and tossing them at the wall to see what sticks. I rather be more organized and prepared.

I love how much of a joke great threads like this become.

Hey Redzone. You know what pisses people off. When they spend lots of time researching, reading, digging through information to learn... then someone comes around asking very very basic questions that point to the fact that they have done ZERO research. That person then says they have spent over $2,000 on their first grow, yet they can't spend any time informing themselves. They come onto threads about training their plant and start asking silly questions that have absolutely nothing to do with the topic of the thread. And then THEY get pissy when people don't answer their 'simply asked question'.

Start your own thread and ask all the questions you want. Leave this thread to be about the training technique it was started to be about. Don't turn it into "Help Redzone learn how to grow" Please.

I'm not sure if he's reading the right thread everything he's asking is basic knowledge not only that but all his question can be answered on the first few pages with pictures and everything. also being in the nursery business shouldn't you know what a node is and what topping is would these be used in all types of horticulture.

RedzoneFL no one is trying to be mean burt when all your answers are on the first few pages it makes it seem that you want everyone to do the research for you also this is a ORGANIC forum that is why you wont find anything on hydro here. Everything should be basically the same in hydro all your doing is topping and tying/ training your plant

I had to lay one over yesterday... so I am now down to 4, 8 headers. tallest is just over 2 ft... Space Bomb #1 in the back right is just at 25"

I am pretty stoked... being a first timer and all. :P

Redzone, I'm a hydro guy myself and will be doing some mainlined hempys in my next fall grow. If you have any questions or want to bounce ideas, let me know.

Hey folks,

1st attempt at mainlining. Set for 4 at the moment but i am going for 8 heads. Interesting thing is the nodes are now alternating. Im guessing that is because she is a clone and already mature.??

Strain dependent(but also inevitable in every plant) Just pinch stems that are out growing the others until it "gives" then lay it to the side. I like to anchor them or even just weigh them. (paper clip with fishing weight on it will do, be reasonable here not a deep sea weight, also pinch about 2 nodes below the top or a bit more but not too far) If it is only ahead by a bit you don't have to lay it down just leave it and it will "stunt" it's growth for a day or a bit less and let the other catch up.

Here is an update on my mainlined Cheesequakes week 1 day 6 of flowering DSCF6009.jpgDSCF6010.jpg that's four plants 8 heads each for a total of 32 even sized heads. Not bad for 32" x 32" grow tent with a 400 watt hps. This is setting up to be my best yield yet. Thanks Nugs, I love this technique.

Dabumps: cool. didnt think of adding weights. thats a better idea than drilling holes and tying. Already i have pinched all 4 stems but at different points to adjust for the extra lengths. will give it a week to recover and back to more bondage. lol
