When I said that lottery is a tax on people who can't do math, I wasn't talking about the taxes that are paid on winnings... just that it's a $1 tax on the suckers that play it. And, as far as it helping fund schools goes, I'm pretty skeptical. Sure money goes to schools, but I'd bet they just shuffled money around... other money that would have gone to schools if there wasn't the lottery now doesn't make it to schools, because the lottery is filling in funding some. Do schools seem any better off since lotteries started?
