The Irish Growers Thread!

Still no sign of those little hairs coming grrrr the suspense is killing me !! No clusters or 'balls on sticks' either so I'm staying positive. Celia is really desperate for a transplant which she's not getting till she drops her knickers!! Had to do emergency renovations at 2am ffs, damn light went, but at least they're under a MH light now. Found a really good set up with tent, fan, fan controller, carbon filter, 400W ballast and light, relay, timer plus other bits for just over £400 (I'll IM the link to you if you want it Darren, they have smaller set ups for less). Saving my pennies and staying away from my dealer till the end of the month then we're good to go!! Whoop whoop!!

Everyone's plants are looking really good :weed:, I know I'm not going to come anywhere near that quality of plants this time round but I've learned loads! Been thinking about having a go with an autoflowering strain, I didn't know you could even get those till after I started this one off and bought the ortega's, they'll keep for awhile. I've chosen shooting star but if anyone can recommend something else they've grown that was strong enough to put them to sleep or give me a reason NOT to grow autoflowering strains, I'm all ears.

Hopefully it's a female as they normally take longer to show them selves. Also if you time your grow right, you'll be able to veg normal plants and grow autostrains at the same time. Auto flowering strains are great at the start of their growing hobby. Sound like a nice piece of kit you got there, have you seen any difference when you use different bulbs, I've not as of yet, but looks cool with both mh and hps on

I had to turn the box on it's side to get some height. It's perfect as a little veg box but it'll be useless for flowering coz it's not lightproof. The light is a 70W MH floodlight, good little light so far BUT it has an integral ballast which means all the heat it gives off is staying in the box and it gets really hot so I have to leave it open till I install another extraction fan. Got a couple of 27k CFL's to go down the sides that I still have to put in too. Can't believe it's taken over a month for them to grow that small amount but then I really didn't have enough light and I wasn't feeding them properly. Will still be delighted with what I get off them if they turn out to be girls, I think I saw the start of some pistils sprouting, so small I'm getting eye ache looking for them , will check AGAIN in the sunlight in the morning (yes I know I need a magnifying glass). First pic from when I first topped Celia, last 2 are Farmer then Celia.

Are you able to open up your 70 w mh and lenghthen the wire from the ballast to the light, this way you'll be able to mount the ballast to the out side of the box..

Good weather on the way..

X2 Screw the floodlight open and lengthen the wire so you can have the ballast remote

just keep the reflector the bulb holder and your bulb in the box

Doing it cheap is possible but doing no research himself is a waste of your time and ours.

well well well,
been busy, had to harvest a week early because of mold problem,i caught it very early on so i was able to in there and cut it out before it spread.it only really effects main cola's really from the inside out. i pulled off a sugar leaf to have a look at the trics under my microscope and noticed that the end of the leaf was grey & fuzzy!!!!!!!!

Right there i nearly shit myself.

wasted no time checking EVERYWHERE on all plants and cutting out the infection.id say i lost less than a Quarter all together.picked up some cheap interior dehumidifier silica gel things to keep the RH down while drying. that was on thursday and theres been no mold since.

i suppose of i was a bit foolish thinkin i could get to the end of my 1st grow without any problems, but i sorted it quickly.

another thing i really understand the diff in an early harvest, very very ceribal head high, floaty like a bag of quavers.

ill get a pic of the finished product when i get it all proper and into jars. cant wait for round # 2.

Well done lad, they look great.. defo in flower mode now, but remember the plant only needs 1 day of more than 12 hours and she could revert back to veg.. So you'll have some good time keeping to do for the next 6 weeks or so..

yeah wish i Had a Ganj Greenhouse id be doing big things with the power of the sun
The biggest and the best grow light in the world!! I'd love a poly tunnel and convince the missus I was growing strawberries in there..

Glad you caught it in time, How come your RH so high...? I once saw a dehumidifier in Heatons for €2.. Not sure if it was any use though..

thats the yoke there, i wasnt sure so i got 4 of em, only 2 lids each and there doin the job.

i reckon the Rh / mold problem was from having 4 plants in such a small space, growing into each other and the walls.scaling down for my next attempt.just 2 bigger plants no messin.

Thats them alright.. I was going to buy a pack to try them out but saw the size on the que for the tills and said fuk that..

I had a grow that was over grown and too many plants and paid the price, luckliy enough i didn't get mold but the lack of air movement caused slow growth.
Less is more in some ways... I'm think of 2 plants and scrog, this would give you a lot of weed...
