Prewired is when they wire the socket and you just hook (wire) it to your electricity or a pigtail with a male plug at the end. Did you say you only fertilized your plants once since flowering? What is the temp variation in NY now?

Hmmm...I'm trying to figure out why you would need this prewired socket. I don't get what the guy was trying to do with it. Couldn't you just get a clip light, screw in a Y adaptor, plug in the bulbs, and plug the other end into the outlet? At this point I'm leaning toward using Visqueen to cover the bars, it seems easiest and cheapest. I'll use a space heater to keep it warm.

Day temps are in the 50s, night are in the high 30s/low 40s. Yes, I only fed once while in bloom, adding a good amount of Rainbow Mix when they first showed pistils. Since then they've just gotten water with either molasses or apple juice. We've had a lot of rain so I haven't needed to water more than a few times.

Im not sure why you would need a prewired socket. You can do what you suggested with the Y adapter and 2 CFLs and just plug it in as long as the wattage is supported by the outlet. I dont think the actual wattage for 2 CFLs is that much.

If you use visqueen with those temps you will be running your heater a lot. Also how will you not draw attention to your grow? With the visqueen your box will be like a becon to the outside. Look at Home Depot and see if they have some polycarbonate (flat) or plexiglass sheets either clear or opaque (best) and have them cut them to size. Get some silicone for fish tanks, also at Home Depot, and run a bead in the corners and along the bottom and top. You could also use flat pieces of polystyrene foam board (HD or art store) to construct the enclosure and use duct tape to secure the sides top and botton. The foam is like the foam cup material so it will be your best material for insulation and stealth.

That is why they are so yellow then. If they were too wet from rain you could use worm castings or bat guano for your organic source of N. Just a suggestion.

What percentage of trichomes are amber, would you say? When they're just beginning to turn amber you could still have some time to go (and some bud weight to gain).

As long as it's not a hard frost she'll be ok in that regard. 30% amber is a harvestable window my friend. :) You can certainly do a partial, get it dried and see how you like it. I've been enjoying some of my own homegrown since Monday (#8 of the Bagseed Girls), and even if it's not the dankest dank, I still LOVE it. And I LOVED being able to smoke out my friend, with MY OWN STUFF! It's like I'm June Cleaver, as a head.

Ha ha ha, I told my friend the other day that I was the pothead Martha Stewart!

So I harvested her! Not all, just the larger colas. I left some on the plant to ripen for a couple more weeks so I can tell if there's any difference. Here's a pic...this is now hanging in my closet! SO exciting!!

I know!! I am so proud of myself! Just wait 'til I get me some more Subcool strains going, it'll be like Baskin-Robbins up in here! :)

 Holy shit, that NYC neighborhood's gonna be rockin' better'n the Jamaicans. I decided to harvest #4 last night, totally impulse thing (gotta learn to control those impulses a little better yet). I had to move them because rain was coming in, and while I like to let them have the water we're just too close for comfort, would rather have dry buds and water them myself. So, I'm moving my girls and I had my glasses on and looked at #4 and said, "Holy shit! This girl is DONE!"
(They're all right, you do know it when you see it.)

So, I got to cuttin'. Began around 4pm, didn't stop trimming til 10pm and that was because I was seeing cross-eyed, HAD to stop. Just finished up the last of the smaller colas and little popcorn budlets, about a half hour ago. Gotta take my tally and see if I can get a good approximation of final dried weight. :D

LittleMarthaBattyStewart. 8)

Edit: Just tallied, 135grams, or 4.82oz, wet, trimmed. Should come out to about 45grams, or 1.6oz dry, if I'm calculating correctly.

Yes. I didn't even really clean out the tiny trichome-covered leaves from the bud all that well, either. I'm persistent, that's for sure!

So, gotta update my gifted seeds journal. A HUGE wind blew Miss California Indica x Big Bud CLEAN OFF THE DECK! A 30' drop, plus some tumbling. Broke a good pot, totally killed up the root mass, split the main stalk all the way down to the roots, broke one of the two main colas, and, my biggest problem, salted everything nicely with soil. I blew as much as I could out with compressed air, tried carefully spraying off some more with water with one branch, didn't go so well, so... I've spent about 2 1/2 hours trimming and putting up buds for a water cure. I'll be adding that to my repertoire, by necessity. I'm displeased, as I wasn't planning on harvesting this one just yet.

Okay, my drying buds are more poofy than dense. Is that normal? Did I do something wrong?

Also, they're really dry -- they've been in my closet for three days, and it's warm in here. The tips of the buds are crumbly. I'm going for the brown paper bag...

Do the stems still bend? There are many ways to dry buds but I prefer, for my personal stash to use the method your suggesting. Hang dry until dry on the outside with stems bendable. Bag them until the stem breaks, then to the jars, burped everyday intil they can be smoked. See Subcools and FDDs threads for their methods. Some people skip the bag stage and go straight to the jar (container).

I don't think you've done anything wrong. I sort of forced myself to harvest #15, Norene Badseed, and her buds growth is so dense that I couldn't get in easily at all to trim out the fan leaves. At least I didn't kill her outright and she's got a clone. This is one of the two phenotypes I've gotten from the SMS. #4 was STICKY-ICKY! The smell was so strong that it made me nauseous. CIxBB, not so sticky, not so smelly. #15 Norene Badseed, smelly, sticky, not as much as #4, but FAR more dense, so much more dense... just wow on that. Wasn't easy to clean up at all.

Green, and anyone else who might be able to answer, I have a question about genetics. As you may recall, one of my girls became a hermaphrodite about a month or so into flower. It impregnated everyone, most notably and thoroughly its sister, Miss Cali. Indica x Big Bud. Her seeds are quite ripe and a lot were falling out of the calyxes, so I harvested as much as I could before doing the water cure.
My question is regarding the genetic material of the seeds themselves--is this the 'famed' feminized seed, since it came from a female hermaphrodite?
Are there any issues I should be on the watch for when growing them out, such as increased male incidence or hermaphrodism?

Lb, you're gonna have such a good winter, smokin' up your own bud. :) bongsmilie

I hope so! She's not dense/resiny/stinky at all. I think I'm skipping the bag stage or they'll crumble. I just washed some jars out and as soon as they're dry I'll load 'em up and take pics. :)

You guys, my buds are crumbly and poofy. What the hell? None of them are at all dense or tight. I just put them in a jar but i'm embarrassed to take pics of them because they look so weird. What did I do wrong?!?!
