The great RIU Conquistador grow '08!

Okay all...at this point we have myself, Seamaiden, Hydrotech364, and Honkeytown growing Subcool's Conquistador. Even though we're not all growing organic, I felt this was the best forum for this thread. Hopefully we can give a very thorough representation of the strain!

So I guess we should begin by each stating the basic details of our grow (location, indoor/outdoor, nutes, growing media, etc.)

I'm in the great state of NY. I'm growing outdoors in containers and indoors in my brand new aeroponic cabinet which can be seen here:

STEALTH HYDROPONIC GROW CABINET CAB BOX LIGHT SYSTEM 1 - eBay (item 260243157368 end time May-29-08 03:42:19 PDT)

Right now my seeds are germinating in rockwool cubes outdoors. Cubes were soaked in tap water with a few drops of lemon juice to bring it to pH 5.5. Seeds were soaked in tap water for 24 hours. For this grow I will be using Supernatural GroAqua powdered nutes for veg (because I got a sample with my cab) and switching to FloraNova One-Part Bloom (4-8-7) from General Hydroponics for flowering (because that's what the guy at the hydro store recommended.)

I have three big questions here: one, should I put foil or mylar or something reflective inside my cab? Two, do I need to get an aerator stone of some sort for my reservoir? It only came with the pump/sprinkler. I was looking at Supernatural's Excellofizz tablets and wondering if they would do the same job plus provide eucalyptus to cover odor. Three, I don't have a carbon filter in my cab, so do I need one or should I just use the tablets?

The outdoor plants were started on May 1 and May 15. Only one of the May 1 plants survived. Six of the May 15 ones did. They're growing in a mix of MG organic and a locally-produced organic potting soil with worm castings -- except for one which is in regular MG soil for comparison. When it's time to flower I'll be switching to bat guano on the organic ones and MG fertilizer on the MG one. I'm doing LST on all but one of them. Here's what they looked like a few days ago:

Okay, everyone else start, and please add as many pics as possible! (Speaking of which can someone tell me how to do thumbnails please?)

Start it up!

That's awesome HT...are you using the whole room? Are you going to be growing other strains at the same time? Are you planning to germ all your Connies at once?

yeah...I am converting my fourth bedroom. I am a contractor so it will take me a few hours to throw up some walls and ventilation...cakewalk. and the best part is I already have the stuff to do it in my garage. I am gonna do a couple of strains. the other right now is the orange crush. mmm mmm. that will be good but the connies are what I am really looking forward to. I dunno if I am gonna do them all at once. I kinda wanna build a dwc rig and grow a few that way. From what I hear connie have like the biggest colas around...so I wanna try to facilitate that as much as possible. as soon as I get the seeds I am gonna germ them then I figure I have about two weeks to finally do the room conversion. should be fun. I am gonna document it for you guys so you will have a good idea of what my growroom is like...but I have to move my exercize eequipment outside...that's the only drawback. Golly I am excited. did you see the plant I am cutting in about an hour?

No I didn't! Where is it?

Yeah the pics I've seen of the colas on Connie are out of control. I'm not going to do any training of my hydro ones so I can compare the yield to my trained outdoor ones. And then I'm leaving one of my outdoor ones untrained to compare that as well.

Now I'm getting all psyched about growing one soil plant in my cab beside the hydro res. This is going to be such mad science!!

This strain is another from the Taco line. Combining the short potent heavy yielding Hash Plant (Cuttlefish) from Squid with the Ortega X C99 Male increased yields with more flavor is our goal on this cross. The Hash Plant Female stays extremely short and produces vast amounts of milky resin heads. The Taco Male lends a Cherry fruit flavor to any wench. Look for Huge Yields as the Hash Plant added baseball bat size colas to the extremely tasty Ortega x C99. It yields massive buds that taste of watermellon or some tropical fruit.
Incredible yields, surprizing potency, awsome taste a proven cash crop!!

CONQUISTADOR Hash Plant X Ortega X C99 Sub.06 TGA1

That is the original description from Cannabis World

Hopefully you scored these from someone that had real originals not f2's :)

Here are the original test grow from seed.

Subcool, THANK YOU! I am so honored to have you here!!

The person I got them from is a medical grower. She got them from a seed bank but I'm not sure where. I'm trying to get her on here too, I just emailed her to join RIU & this thread.

This is partly to figure out how to make thumbnails and partly to show you that I fixed my light with a curtain rod from the dollar store in about ten seconds. Huzzah! The second pic is the cabinet in the corner of my studio. Nothing like a microwave, a Snoopy phone, knitting needles, and a human skull to make your cab say "stealth."

I took this pic in the middle of lining it with foil, just playing around to see how reflective it is. Also, if you look in the little bin on the left inside door, you will see all the nutes and supplies I'm using for this grow. There's a baggie of powdered GroAqua for veg, which came free with the cab and will last through at least one grow if not two, and a bottle of FloraNova for bloom, which cost $5 and will last through at least two grows, and a pH test kit that cost $7 (will also last through at least 2 grows.) I want to prove that you don't have to spend an insane amount of money on nutes to have a successful grow. $6/grow sounds pretty good to me.

I'm thinking I can fit one soil plant in about a 10" pot over to the left of the reservoir, what do you think?

Thank you. And yes you should come here, it's awesome. xoxo :)

I was thinking maybe I should make use of the curtain rod to put in a clip-on oscillating fan. You can get them for $12 at Home Depot (I hate the incompetence of the staff at the local HD but sometimes it's a necessary evil.) I was also wondering if there were some inexpensive lights I could put down the sides of the cab for better results. This grow is all about doing stuff on the cheap since I spent so much on the box. I'm gonna line it with foil this time for that reason.

no shit...look at the last pic subcool put up...I was lookin at it and then I saw the six inch flex behind the cola.....that top cola must be two and a half feet long.....wow.

And yes...it's amazing out there...I just about moved there for my music but things got a little too lucrative for me out here and my ex of five and a half years didnt wanna go....sucky...now the money and the girl are gone and I am still in the heat. blah. lucky:-? as far as extra lights go I need to take a few minutes and look at that cab and dimensions again...see if we all can't come up with somethin. I have to hit up Depot today so I will wander and see what I can conjure up:blsmoke:
