The Fundamentals of Private Grows/Caregiving

There def is money to be made selling MMJ, in a state where you can sell to more than 5 people, without being an mmc. We are not trying to scare you off but honestly, while probably could have been worded kinder, BadDog is pretty spot on, to get new patients you basically HAVE to GIVE them something for free basically every month. If you can find some buddies that is always the way to go. But seriously the only money to be made here is to smoke for free, unless you are going to sell to the black market, in which case it seems like it would be smarter to stay in another state.

Thats why i have tried to stay on your side, i have gotten pretty nasty with people, this really is not an uncommon question here, a lot of people look at us like we are just giving our money to anyone who has bud. That is true in non-legal states, where you buy what you can find, but we have an awesome selection here so you really have to have everything dialed in to see $200 an oz, as where you go just a state over and they are still paying top dollar for whatever they can get.

We all were at one point, just know that when a market arises everyone tries to get in, you have to be fast to be the first, and a lot of places not only go through growing pains and over saturation of the market but huge changes in the laws. If you are looking for a great place to live with the best buds in the world, colorado is a great place, but if you want to grow for a living it is going to take a large start up investment in this market.

Glad you gave Colorado credit for more than just it's weed!

I love it here, seems like everyone here ignores the beauty, so i try to throw it out there every now and then. I plan to stay here until i die, or until our government collapses or becomes too greedy...... not that that could ever happen.

This is one of the better places to be if all fails! I can't say best cause of all the factors, but......... top of the list for sure!

Do any of you guys know anything about current Denver specific laws for caregivers? I have always been under the 5 patient impression. 3/3 per pt. Blah blah. Which would be 15 in flower per house. I just read an old thread in this forum talking about no matter what in Denver county you can only have 12 plants per house? 6 flowering 6 veg? True? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Pretty sure it was in denver city, but yeah there is a specific limit in certain areas, make sure you do all the research you can to know what you are dealing with, don't want to be another bartowitz.

I know it man. Really is stupid though how hard it is to find a straight answer. I mean yeah cdphes got their shit up .....but that's just the state caregiver law. Can't find any concrete answers as to what specific laws are in effect in my area.

In case anyone doesn't know, and I'm sure someone on here doesn't....last week they passed HB 1043. This effectively KILLS private caregiving in Colorado. For the guy questioning the move to Colorado...DON'T DO IT. For the guy that moved from Colorado to persue MMJ profits elsewhere....good call bro! And for peaceloveandpaws: yes in Denver they passed an ordinace stating that you cannot grow more than 12 plants, period. Even if your a caregiver for 5 people, you'd need to move out of Denver to grow for all of them.
Essentially every city is passing their own ordinances for where MMJ centers and private caregivers can grow and operate. Many towns have their own ordinances so it's very important if you want to stay compliant that you check out that information. Laws change quickly too, so unless your retaining an attorney to stay up on changes, you have to stay up on the changes. Like someone said You don't want to end up another Barkowitz.
So HB1043...what does it mean? It means that anyone who is a private caregiver for even 1 patient must register with a local zoning authority, get a permit from the DOR for an (unspecified amount), and must be subject to inspection at any time. So you effectively have given up all privacy, and could be home searched at any time. In addition the DOR is violating federal laws with this law, and the government has threatened the state not to enact the law. If they do, it's likely the feds would seize that list from the DOR and then use it to go around busting growers.
I was a private caregiver for the last few years, and I'm actually dumping my patients and telling them I'm out of business with this change. I could move to a properly zoned city, area, and new house, and get a few more patients, and give up my privacy, and pay a huge unspecified fee to the DOR, and take a big risk with my privacy going forward, but I'm not willing to do that.
So anyone still sticking with the game: Good luck, stay up on law changes, and stay compliant, or you'll get Barkowitzed. HB1043 still has to be signed by the governor, but it's otherwise been passed into law.

So, forgive me, but will that influence my personal grow? I'm not a caregiver. Ive been seeing that some peeps are going to let their cards lapse?

How many plants are you doing for yourself? If it's >6 you have nothing to worry about in any city anywhere in Colorado atm.
If your a caregiver growing any more than 6 plants for other people...whole different story.
