Yeah, I don't know what the per lb price for the marlin was. The weird thing is the meat was pink, like salmon.

Good eats!

Brother I wish I had pics of Kenai as well, I worked for a commercial fishing op for a summer, Halibut as tall as me(almost 6ft!)

and more salmon than I ever care to see again.

Look into commercial fishing in Alaska. They run July-September, pay well, and you'll catch and eat more salmon than you will ever want to see again.

They usually pay room and board too. You just have to get there and pay for food.

I just moved to Irish Hills , MI. We have a 5 acre lake out back full of Pike. I'm still getting unpacked...but soon I'll have some pics. I did catch a 10-12 pound carp in my pond..lol. I released him because he swims around the pond...skimming the top of the water like a shark. He's about 36 inches long and almost anytime I go out there I can see him...so he's like my buddy now..lol. I like to smoke a fatty and just watch him. It used to be a trout pond...now its just full of small bluegill/sunfish...and a carp. As soon as I start fishing again..I'll post pics ( from the lake ).
Cool thread...lets keep it going. Peace

sounds like anice pond to fish in. those carp are very overtaking tough they are an invasive species. thats probably why theris no trout any more. and is the lake on your property. if i had a lake on my property i would get some bass and trout and stock it up

I can't find the pics I took of the trout I caught last year in Mammoth, Ca. Must be on my other computer that I don't have access to atm.

Caught a really nice brown trout, my first. He made a wonderful dinner too, combined with a nice filet mignon.
I'm going ocean fishing for the first time in my life next week thursday. I've fished on the pier before, but never out on a boat.
That should be a ton of fun, because I'm going with a bunch of friends, and we're gonna have a ton of ganja...because I just harvested some real nice WW.

I will definately post some pics when we get back. It would be great if I could hook up with some halibut. We'll be going out of Huntington Beach, Ca.

Hubby isn't going....here, I'm the fisher-woman, and he only tags along to read. Doesn't fish. ;-( I've been freshwater fishing since I was 5yo.

ah a lady fishers thats a lil rare but a good thing. i assume your going bottom fishing if your wanting halibut. and good luck ocean fishing is very fun. my first time was a il scary cuz it was so foggy i couldn't see 2 feet in front of me but i still had a blast. also if youve never been ocean fishing you might want to take some Dramamine before going it makes it so you dont get see sick if you do. being see sick sucks its worse then the flu. i always take it to be safe even though ive only been sick one time but after that one time i started taking it every time. i wish you luck and im lookin forward to the catch pics if you happin to snap some

I fucking love pike, theyre considered invasive up here though, and they poisoned all my favorite lakes with that gill killer shit, not fair, pike are so much more fun to fish for than trout, they fight harder, they bite more, trout are finnicky little shits. Its Illegal to catch and release pike up here if you catch one you have to keep or kill it and theres no limit on them, and whenever I used to catch one I'd jam a stick down its gullet and leave it stuck up in the shallows, like some planet of the apes shit "LOOK AT WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO THOSE THAT HAVE COME BEFORE YOU!"

we have a invasive fish in the rogue river here as well we call them sqau but theri real name is northern pike minnow. they are bad to eat cuz they taste like shit and they eat alot of salmon and trout eggs. their used to be a bounty of like 25 cents a fish but that has stopped. and its not illegal hre to release them once caught but every one just throws them in the bushes to die cuz they are lame

all right well i thought i would share the types and brands of poles i have.
1st is my 4 1/2 ft ugly stick ultra light action, it has a shake spear 2500 spinning reel i use this for lake trout, bass, and smaller river trout. ugly stick is my favorite brand of poles very cheap and very well built and long warranties. i paid 30 dollors for the pole and reel.
2nd is my fly pole it is a 8 ft 3 peice eagle claw pole and reel i have only been fly fishing for about a month and i have only caught 1 2 pound steely. i wish i had some one who was experienced in fly fishing to show me some tricks but im getting better. also i only paid 30 dolors for this pole as well very cheap and reliable theri is no need to spend 100's of $ to catch fish i do very well with my cheaper poles.

and today i just got a steelhead/small salmon pole for 29 dollors. its a 7 ft tall daiwa shock pole it is a medium action rod/reel. the reel is a 3000-3bi reel. i never realy got into salmon or steel head fishing eitehr but i would love to catch some. ive only salmon fished one time when i was about 14 and i caught about a 25 pound jack salmon and it was very fun. i am going to go fishing tomorrow morning for steelhead/salmon/ and trout so wish me luck. any body know some good setups for steelhead and salmon. i have a few shity pics of my poles:leaf:

Lol the second pic is on wood chips with a shitty camera. The bass was in Kissimmee Florida, I think it was 13.8lbs.
That bass is alot closer to 5 or 6 than 13.8, and nice sized flathead too.
Hows about a couple of Halibut that easily exceed any conservative guess.
275 and 175 for the big'uns.
