i get to go bass fishing saturday for a few hours, its a small local pond but it has some nice bass
I'm going sometime between Sunday and Tuesday, we'll compare. :p It's the same lake that has the huge catfish, I'm worried they starved all the bass out but what the hell I'ma give it a shot.

i've got to wait a few days to go to a few of my fav spots to let the water levels drop back down some.. we didn't get much from the hurricane in the way of damage, but damn, did it ever overflow a lot of my spots.. :(

nice.. and yah, i've seen dudes fishing right next to me using worms and killing it.. i'd put the same worm on my shit, and not a damn thing, lol.. not sure if i don't have the action down right on them or what.. i do know i don't have much confidence in them, and sometimes that is what makes all the difference in the world..
Go on youtube there's TONS of tutorials on them. Color, time of day, how you hook it, how you just it, there's so much to take into account. You get the right color combination (when walmart quit carrying the tiki's I bought out 2 of each when they were on clearance) I've thrown a green and silver out for half an hour, no action, swapped to a silver dark gray, was getting hits as soon as it hits the water. Most of the techniques are like swimbaits, raise your rod to make it dive, lower your rod to keep it higher, give it some run time then let it sit, but it's all in preference. Time of year makes a difference also.

lol, read my mind, the only problem is that sometimes it overflows so bad it's kind of hard to get close to the water.. i know that sounds stupid now that i say it out loud, lol, but what i mean is it's kind of hard to get to my usual spots near the bank that i know hold the fish if that makes better sense..

Oh I hear ya. It it's been a long time since rain, or too much rain, I rarely go to my fav places cuz I have my spots, that's when I go find places I've never been. I'm itchin' to get up to the dam about an hour and a half away, problem is you gotta BE there at 5 am and there's hella shad jumping and tossing your bait that you gotta slip past and then there's a ton of Striped Bass. Now there's my fave to catch, although fighting a shad if you never have is a trip, they don't flip out of the water like a bass, they'll straight up jump the hell out of the water.

I hiked into a couple of remote (Rainbow stocked) lakes yesterday but the wind was really blowing & I only caught one small one. :-(
Saw a pic of one another guy caught last weekend & it was 8 lbs minimum, probably closer to 10.
Big ass Rainbow !

I'm gonna dedicate some time looking for one of those.

Next time it's decent weather I'm going after some monster bass. I'm gonna catch the one that got away from FDD

Did you know...they won't mount a catfish, my brother tried with his 9 lb'er and they said they just make a mold of the fish and make a fake one out of it. Boooootleg.

Not too many taxidermists will mount them as its really tough to do. My dad used to do skin mounts for years & he wouldn't do one either.
Its easy enough to take some measurements & pictures, release the fish & a good shop can replicate your catch.
& Damn brewer - nice looking fish !

Check this out.My brother and I caught this bad boy in the depths of the Amazon jungle about 2 years ago, it was caught by using live bait we spear fished for, hooked the bait onto a heavy duty line then tied it to a tree ,we put out about 8 lines and caught 2 of the same fish one was much smaller than this but it was still plenty big enough then when we pulled this out we were both like FUCK ME WHAT THE FUCK IS THAT then cooked it and ate it and it was one of the best tasting fish i have ever had.
Its name is Pirarucu and we think it weighed in at around 80-100kg
