The Dope - Dr Greenthumb: 1 Gallon yield per bucket test grow

The Dope is a cross of Chumaluma (sativa) and Endless Sky (indica). It produces less than average size buds that are feathery, its a very light bud. I harvested the top 8" of the above bucket, 24" total, and got 192 grams trimmed but wet - I'm not sure what it will cure to but I'd say 25% of trimmed weight so perhaps 50 grams. Just under 2 ounces cured for 1/3rd the plant, 1/2 - 2/3 the yield. Very light. The bud was almost 2 liters at 200 grams, Skunkberry of the same volume would push 600 grams. I don't think that this is going to be a commercial bud like Endless Sky, more on the cannaseur side. Good volume but the weight isn't there because of bud density and the bud volume will collapse with curing. My first grow of the strain though, I've learned to never judge a strain until the 3rd grow - so much can change in growing environment, curing, or just the age of the clone chain may have something to do with potency.

I hope to double the yield of the bottom 2/3 rds of the plant by multi harvesting and leaving the lower buds under direct light for a week. I was expecting a larger swell in the last week, it's not a huge producer - but effect is everything for me. I'd rather have 2 litres of bud that I can't wait to get to than 4 litres of bud that I could care less about having. Because of the thick canopy of CCOB the lower buds received much less light with a tall 24" plant, luckily I can push the plant for at least another week before the remainder gets too far along it's harvest window - only clear trichomes left on the plant after the first harvest. The buds will swell and harden, when watering I have to go light or no nutes because the large root system is feeding a much smaller plant. Increased evaporation in the lower leaves of the lighter canopy will speed water transfer to an area of the plant that was less developed than the harvested top. The extra nutes could burn the leaves as they did when I revegged Jack The Ripper.

I'm bake curing the first 29.5 grams of the smallest bud, leaving the larger to air cure. There will be no taste and probably little potency for a week with a bake cure, there won't be much sense posting any type of review for at least a week or 4. I won't write a Spectrum of Effects report until after my 2nd or 3rd grow, when the strain becomes pedestrian to me. As they all do. I've got a video uploading with a lot of pics of The Dope, I'll post it here when it finishes. Just a rough slideshow that was easier to throw tother than uploading my pictures to tinypic.

Doc this isn't your video, I just have a long series of The Dope pictures so I though it would be good for the thread. I'm still figuring out what I want to do for your vid, I want a 3d picture model that the viewer can manipulate and move INSIDE the plant, through the branches. I don't know how to do that, I don't have the pictures that I want. But I do have another bucket of The Dope trained CCOB and ready to go into flower next week, I'll be taking copious amounts of pictures and will post updated videos and 3d models where ever I end up. I've got some Endless Sky beans as well, I snuck in an order a while back when you weren't looking. ES has always been my indica referral strain - from reviews alone - I'm finally going to grow her. This is one of the simple things that I've made dozens of emails and posts about - insert a first post in this thread that directs people to the ebook so they don't have to wade through this labyrinth to find the simple information that they need to do a project. An Index for Weed Science in my first post, download the ebook chapters from there as needed. I'm not asking to run nude through the forum with a Stephen ColberT mask on, just little stuff.

For anyone who doesn't know, there is an index at the Weed Science link that organizes this thread into categories, chapters. Each chapter is downloadable with a linkable index organized by tags. I am adding a timeline index and chapter as Saladman suggested several pages ago, I just need more time. The ebook is free to anyone who might find it useful, I would be honoured if you downloaded it and used some of the equipment or techniques in your garden. This must be a little like what a singer feels like, I'd literally come to your house and help you to build equipment just to know that you are using something that I carried the baton for a length of it's development.

I find that I work best from a forum, its both a journal and my only human contact - I make a game out of seeing if I can go through the day without talking to another person while going about my normal routine. I started making my own coffee to avoid both inconsistent Tim Horton's coffee and repeating my order twice and getting the wrong coffee anyway. It saves me about $20 a day including muffins and a Turkey Bacon sandwich.

As well I'm giving up my interest in my business to develop The Academy full time, my philosophy is that this project must eventually fund itself so I'm going to approach businesses within the marijuana community concerning their affiliate referral programs - if someone is buying a pack of Kali Mist because of the 7000+ views of my Spectrum Of Effects Report, or a pack of Jack The Ripper from the +2500 views, a seed bank could benefit from a link button in my thread. The reader could use my name as a discount code and perhaps get a free seed, the seed bank would know that the referral is from me because of the code.

I'm developing the root pruning pots to include a root tip harvester for root cloning. I believe that I mentioned above my embarressing realization that the roots that I was trying to clone were sans tips because of our root pruning buckets. When I made the root pruning cups and 6" pots without the fabric, and saw the tips growing out, eventually my mind kicked in - when you kill the tip the root stops growing. The root tip is like a stem cell, the top node of a clone cutting. The roots that I was trying to clone, woody stems.

I was too embaressed to tell anyone here ... its one of those things that make me want to palm face into a tree instead of a palm. I'm thinking either Air Pots or Root Stim as a partner for root cloning pots, unless someone here wants to make them then I'll help you design and build a gang drill for the holes and a bucket indenter for the root tip harvester. We'll make two models, one as we use now and a second with a clam shell cover bucket for people unable to lift the Hole Bucket from the cover. Simple. I want a penny a bucket sold, I won't budge on that. Maybe two cents for three buckets, I hate for anyone to think that I don't have two sense to rub together.

The ETL, I've got 3 good vaporizer designs in Weed Science - The Piker gives better hits than any direct draw on the market. Idiot proof it and it'll be the best vaporizer in the world. Half the power usage, half the time to heat up - magnetic induction is the perfect technology for portable and dock vaporizers. A subcritical water extractor where your expresso machine makes the solvent to replace butane - it makes the $10k I spent this summer developing my CO2 subcritical extractor almost useless except that I can use it for oil sands. Some other stuff, just looking for a very small per sale royalty - and for that I need to be working out of a large forum. This is the best forum for me, the people are great, I love it here - but I can't get a single administrator to even acknowledge that I exist to tell me to go fuck myself.

I really don't want anything from them ... and if they even get a hundredth of a cent per view for my threads they're at least paying for coffee. I think its a fair trade, if someone bought me coffee and asked nothing in return I'd ... why I'd wonder what they were up to. What their game was.

Weed Science

Much in life doesn't make sense to me, like a dance who's steps I can memorize but the purpose seems to be to dance as fast as one can. My mind freezes on the WHY people work the way they do and I don't achieve the results that I intend. Marijuana gardening has been the first thing in my life that has been entirely under my control, including my mind. The simple logic of physics and biology are sometimes head bangingly frustrating, but they are always simple and logical, and once deciphered pedestrian.

Not only the produce, but the procedure of my garden has given me control of my mind and a slowly increasing influence of the world around me - yet I'm completely bewildered at the simplest motivation of another human being. The moderators on RUI have never been anything but the most kind to me, civil and helpful in every way - denying no reasonable request while asking nothing in return. If there is a hippie on RUI it is me - I want something from you, not the moderators, and I have not been able to find out how to provide you with fair trade without asking directly.

For those who've been following the thread for sometime, (Saladman, Shortbus, J.Cun, Mae, and too many others to mention) you may have noticed that I don't ask for help easily, I'm asking now. Everything in this thread has been given freely with no obligation of remuneration, I am humbly asking for your help:

When Doc emailed me about running a test grow I was very flattered, to be given free seeds by a breeder of Doc's caliber is rare. When I was developing my philosophies for The Academy - a method of teaching women refugees alternative technologies to live well by - I realized that it was important that all water flow one way, I walk into the Academy naked and walk out naked, taking nothing with me. I had to reimburse Doc for The Dope seeds but I didn't want them, I didn't order them and I didn't go looking for them - so I ordered a pack of Endless Sky so Doc would be compensated for his work and I would get something of value to me.

I've had my first The Dope harvested for a week, people are already - myself included - passing over both cured Bubblegum and Kali Mist to get to The Dope. This is going to be a #1 Cannabis Cup Classic - it is The Dope. Relaxing, laid back, chill. The effects are different than any strain I've had, chill but not physically sedative. Very very potent, like Jack The Ripper but in a different way. Much more potent than Kali Mist and the effects get stronger, more pronounced, each day. The taste is so smooth already, softer than Kali Mist, not as sharp. Interesting taste that I'll peg down later. ... Instant Classic (I.C.). (Q.L.B.N.W.W.Z.P. in Canada)

Dried a week, maybe 35% of cut weight. Better only in respect to the effects that I feel, very potent to me and I have the highest built tolerance of anyone I know. Probably because I'm the only grower that I know.

I'm shocked, I really am surprised by this strain. I figured that everyone loves their own work and Doc was just proud of his strain, he spent 8 years developing it. I felt that the name was unfortunate, that it would bring a correct but unneeded image that we don't need if we want to merge with main stream society - but he named it perfectly - it is THE dope, it's just great and dopey.

The yield looks great up to the last week or two, I didn't get any swell and the buds didn't get dense, but didn't collapse on drying as I thought they would. They retained their shape.

I judge a strain by which I choose most often, and effects are my only consideration. I've got Kali Mist, Bubblegum, Trainwreck and Strawberry Cough cured and none of them come close to touching The Dope's potency a week off the plant. Very strong effects that I've noticed have increased from yesterday to today, and I'm only vaping shake and tiny popcorn buds, leaving the bigger ones to cure while still retaining water.

It's in my garden for good, I'm only going to get about 9 cups cured (>2 litres, 4 to 5 cured ounces at 25% of cut weight) from the bucket and it was a huge plant for my garden, I was expecting an easy 4 litres, maybe 5 - but I'd rather have 2 litres of The Dope than 4 of any of the strains I mentioned above.

Doc has an interesting business model, I've never talked to him about it but I suspect that one of the reason he prices his strains where he does is that only the more experienced growers will buy from him - while the newer growers who have all the problems and cause all the ruckus on the forums (whistle) buy inexpensive seeds from Nirvana. Doc doesn't seem like the kind of guy who wants to deal with a lot of customer complaints, or even hellos.

That's as far back as I know. I intentionally found out nothing about the strain or Chumaluma before growing, and avoided all the other grow reports. It was so much fun having absolutely no idea what I was going to get, like having an egg and you don't know what's inside. Sorry to rub it in guys but how often do we get a chance to happen on a new classic.

It's actually a pic that I got for some Holy Carvings that I was working on while sequestered on Jon Stewart's Funny Stuff forum last summer. I needed someplace quiet to work and I figured that no one, but NO ONE, would go to Jon Stewart's Funny Stuff forum except by accident. I worked undisturbed for 6 weeks, LMFAO! When I left I deleted the hundreds of pages of text and left most of the pictures.

Dr Greenthumb has been nothing but most excellent towards me, with exception of accusing me of stealing the free seeds that he sent me. I think all of us have been through that state of mind once or twice ... LMFAO!

Anyone else who's been lucky enough to have The Dope - how has the high affected you?

I'm dopey for ... half hour to an hour - very deep thoughts, but not opiate like as with Kali Mist. I'll pin it down over the next couple of weeks. Then I get incredibly silly for an hour, I start thinking and doing things that are hilarious to me at the time - everything is fucking funny! That's where most of the last of this thread has come from, after I harvested The Dope. I'm starting to notice a pattern.
