The Competition Organic Soil vs 100% Perlite !

Welcome to the 2012 Summer Grow !

Hi

My name is Farm3r. For those who do not know me. I'm an Passive-Activist in my state at the moment. Been growing for the past 4 years and everything I learned I owe it to Internet Forums and to YOU Guys. I'll be thankful of you forever, Incredible Journey and Believe me YOU, when I tell you that Marijuana saved my Life as whole.

I'm not a Veteran Grower neither a Commercial one, still a Rookie. However I think am doing a pretty darn good job lately
. I grow to sustain Mrs. Farm3r & My Lifestyle. Thanks to Internet Forums, I'm dealer free since 2010, lol. Thank You, Thank You !

This Journal should be a smooth one and the updates should not be a problem, mainly I'm almost kids free for the summer. However in Real Life I'm a Businessman and Collage student, please bear with me if I miss some weekly updates

The Competition

I have two clones of White Widow. I cut it with 2 day difference apart. However the first WW in Perlite was transplanted to 3 Gallons Container of 100% Perlite on 06/06/2012. The second WW clone was transplanted to a SMART POT of 5 gallons of"Happy Frog Potting Mix w/ added Mycorrhizae" 06/10/2012. Both plants are at the Veg. Tent. Both will be Vegetating for one week, two at most if need it.

Both plants will be topped once at the same time. Afterward both will be LST for the first two weeks of flowering. I know is not a exact comparison. However there is a reason for Organic have been giving a little bit more edge. My first and only Organic grow, was one of the best quality I have ever harvested, but the yield was very disappointing. Where areas Perlite has shown and impressive Growth Rate. That is the only reason. Please this is a Entertainment Challenge do not go G.I. Joe on the poor Farm3r, this is not a Professional Comparison

The contenders to your right WW in Perlite. To your left WW in Organic Soil.

I got this Journal in case somebody from another forums recognize me. I do posts in another forum as well. However lately I do not see any action from the forum. So here we are to dip my toes in Roll It Up Waters !

Let's see if the hype is True !

Pretty cool, but for the results to be valid you should have done 3-5 plants for each. But this is still interesting.

Not exactly a scientific comparison, but should be informative nonetheless. I'm on board. What's the the White Widow organic having much yellower leaves than the peralite though. Was that before you planted them or after?

Thanks Guys ! Yep I know this not a Scientific Professional Comparison. Is more for our entertainment. Organic have been more Greener than Perlite since day 1. However another week has gone by and Perlite is starting to wake up and unleash the fury !

This is how they are today.

Really been thinking about doing an all perlite grow. The main problem is watering. What if i used a slow drip system?

That will work flawlessly. I water every 2-3 days with no problem and is Hand Watering. This is not my first time with Perlite, This is my 5th plant with perlite and so far they have been a success. This one is Moby Dick harvested yesterday at 9 weeks (63 days). That's why I'm using it with the White Widow. In addition White Widow and Me have a long history, of me trying to grow her right. It was not until now, I started the experiments with Perlite and learned how to grow in the medium and have good results.

So far I have tried most mediums out here and I consider this one the most cost effective for my purpose, Personal Growing for less.

I grow in 3 gallon Containers with 2.5 Gallon of Perlite as a medium.

Perlite - $20 (4 Cu Ft) *** It should give me 15 Containers (15 Plants to grow) ***

Nutrients - $50 (2x 1Liter & 2x 250ml) *** I use half dosage of MFC recommends ***
( 56ml + 14ml + 14ml per plant flowering cycle) [ I can flower 17 plants with the same nutrients before I have to buy more]

Electricity - $40 per month *** Variable if I count the A/C of the House, no more than $20-30 for the extra work is making due to the Summer Weather here in FL ***

I usually harvest 3 Oz in average per plant. However I grow too many different strains to give an accurate number. In addition since is personal I do not weight any more if I don't feel to it. I have a perpetual at the moment with 4 plants and rotation every two weeks. Right now I have a problem that many of you wish to have. I have too many buds at home ! and is sometimes scary ! Since the quality is among the best I ever taste and grew, I don't need to smoke that much anymore, therefore the amount pilling up.

I haven't posted anything in a VERY long time. I'm looking into growing Hempy style (perlite) and would love to see the results. I'm assuming both cuttings came from the same mother? If the 3 gallon perlite outperforms the 5 gallon soil, I'm sold. Looking forward to this one. Subscribed.

plus the best thing about hempy is that its re-useable right after harvest... take one out and put another in... de-rooted of course
