The claw!!!

What's good guys, I got my baby a little over 2 weeks into flower now but I noticed something strange in the past couple of days. Some of the leaves on the undergrowth are starting to form a claw shape. The sides are turning downward and the leaf seems kind of droopy. I'm using roots organics soil and root organics bloom nutrients. Heres some pics. Second pic is a close-up of the claw and the other two are of the whole plant. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated and I will
+rep for anyone who can pinpoint the problem. Thanks.

I can't speak from experience, but I think it's caused by too much nitrogen. Lots of people call it "nitrogen claw".

So a good flush should make them come out of it?
It will depend on how much vascular damage the plant(s) have sustained. If minor, you should be fairly OK. If substantial damage has occurred .. well how can I put this politely .... you've been impregnated. Roots developed will be greatly diminished, flowering will be slower and there will be less of it and your yield will be lessened because of it.

I got the claw going on...I just fed them yesterday with 20-20-20 too....they might be to wet for a flush...

hey Brick, what is your top 5 strains?

I like so many that asking me that is like giving me a bag of M&M's and then after I finish the bag asking me which one was best.

In no particular order, here are a few of them .. more than just five .. but five is too limiting for me. I really do not know what I would pick as my top five. There are just too many great strains for me to be able to pick a top five:

Reeferman's Willie Nelson
Reeferman's Cambodian (it used to be called Phnom Penh and sometimes still is.)
Reefermans Seeds Haze Brothers Original Haze
Reefermans Seeds Blackseed
Mr. Nice Seeds Black Widow
Mr. Nice Seeds Medicine Man
Mr. Nice Seeds Super Silver Haze
Sensi Seeds Jack Herer
Serious Seeds AK47
Serious Seeds Bubble Gum
Serious Seeds Kali Mist
Serious Seeds White Russian
Sagarmatha Seeds Western Winds

I am far more of a sativa fan, mostly a pure sativa fan, but a good cross, even if fairly heavy with indica, can be good now and then.

My leaves have not turned necrotic yet or turned yellow they are just really clawed and dark green in color. Would holding off on nutes for awhile along with a good flush probably fix the problem. Also, it's not on any of the big fan leaves just on the smaller ones on the undergrowth? My plants 18 days into flower. If I fix the problem now could I still have a good harvest? I don't really understand why my plant would have nitrogen toxicity when I only used veg nutes 1 time and I am using roots organics soil which i don't think has all that much nitrogen. Thanks.

Necrotic spotting and yellowing don't go with 'the claw,' or the nitrogen toxicity that causes it, but dark green leaves that are a dull green and feel somewhat dry and curl down at the ends like if you held your hand out and curled the ends of your fingers down is that 'the claw' looks like, but normally it is the large fan leaves that do it.You also see a reduction in the amount of moisture the plant(s) use due to the breakdown of the vascular system not being able to transport as much moisture and also nutes throughout the plant(s). But maybe you do not have that going on.

I remember reading a thread here a few months back by someone who had used Root Organics Soil three times and all three times they had a nute lockout problem due to the pH being off. If I remember correctly very little nutes were used one time and another he had only watered but I cannot remember the third situation.

Do you know what the pH level is?

yup nitrogen overdose gives you the claw
and so does some strains, naturally.

OP, the only thing i see that you should do is train that plant. lollipop it by taking off the bottom third or so branches and top if ya like. just my suggestion.

Drowning the plant causes this too or bad draining pots or soil.

I agree, this plant looks over fed. put about 6hrs between feeding for a day. Or dont feed for one hole day and it will be fine. You wil see improvements right away.

the ph of the runoff is about 6.5 but I have had trouble with the ph being too basic.

When you test your runoff are you just taking a reading of what comes through after a normal watering or watering/feeding or do you just water as usual and then wait about 30 to 45 minutes for the pots to drain and then water again with distilled water (or at least water that has been adjusted to be pH neutral) and take a reading from what runs through then?
