the thought at the moment is to use the lights to ensure the 18/6 and then switch to 12/12 and that will be supplemented by the natural light....I don't knw what to expect....my first time ya know...:hump:
the sun is closest to the earth during the northern hemishperers winter so think about that too.

ok....so...did a little reading....here and elsewhere....thinking of going with a CFL array....I know the HPS/MH would be better but seems like people have also had pretty reasonable results with CFL...so I'm gonna give it a shot....looking to try and stay with the 2700-3000 for vege and 6500 for flowering.....and in terms of lumens - most of these are around 1000-1200 each so 8 of them would be around 10,000....which is kinda shy of what is desired? don't know if this is gonna work....but its where I'm thinking right now....

Dude, thats going to work great. Walmart also carries 42w cfls that are 2600 lumens each. And you can always get those 150 cfl's out of catalogs or on the net that are like 10,000 lumens each. Theres no need to spend 100s on a first grow. I think you will be very very suprised at what you can grow for a few bucks!

Well you can order whatever you need. The only thing you may have a problem with is getting seeds. But there are tons of places that ship to the uk.

kk....I found these 42W CFLs.....what should they cost?? I can get them for $15/ea but the frickin' shipping is alomst another $10/ea....I should be able to find them somewheere arounds here...:blsmoke:

EDIT - I found them at HomeDepot - $13/ea - so there ya go, I can go with 8 X 42W = 336W and 8 x 2400 = 19200 lumens this should work out well I think from all that I have read?

yeah tahoe with those your looking at about what a 150w hps puts out...so you will be very very pleased. Im at about 146,000 lumens but if i had to do cfl thats what i would do. Go with those or get online and get some of the 150w cfl grow lights. They go in a medium mogul base, but where ever you order the bulb from will sell the base to im sure. If you dont want to spend that kinda money (about 60 a piece) then those 42w will do an amazing job with the sunlight added.
