the 10/10 theory

...fuck it...I'm not trying this shit...there doesn't seem to enough benifits...even if it worked great and I harvested primo bud in 7 1/2 weeks instead of 9...all I'm doing is saving a week and 1/2...it's not a sientific breakthrough...just an idiot turning lights on and off at different times every day( me )...
...maybe in the future some time I'll give it a try, but for now it seems like a waste of time.....sorry

Come on man!!! you gotta do it. Out of all my plants i got 1 left that im growing to be a mother. Its a NL#5 x Haze and takes 11-12wks, and is a tall bastard. Most people flower em straight from clone because they stretch and are so damn long to flwer. If i flower straight from clone and run a 10/10 or 12/6 that could (possibly) knock that plant down to 9wks. If it works it might be more viable to grow sativas inside. Do it for me man

it'd be tough to get a timer to do that...

like you'd need one custom built for that shit...

and yeah i'm not sure there would be many benefits... its posisble though.

...I'm easily persuaded...lol...I keep going back and forth with this idea...if I get enough posts like yours I may start the project up again...i'm still weighing out the pros and cons

It would be quite easy just to make one, though. Just modify an existing mechanical timer to 20 hours instead of 24 somehow :)

.they have a 30 day timer that will work for this...it just needs to be programmed to pop on / off every 10 hrs...digital timer is like $80 though

:bigjoint:...lol...I'm pulling some old timers out right now,I have a box with like 6 timers and misc. pegs and shit...( I used to have aquariums...all those spare parts have been coming in handy for DWC...)...I'm going to play around and see what I can make...a 10/10:-P

lolololol I use to be into aquariums too, and I totally use all those parts on my grow, plus I know my way around the petstore and can build a setup real cheap because aquarium parts are often cheaper then "grow" parts. But, I was so pumped when I realized I could use all those almost wasted aquarium parts for my grow setup, + rep for another aquarium turned grower

...nice...I got out of it slowly has some real old fish died off...at one time I had 14 tanks...lol...but that was years ago...my last favorite fish was a Redline Snakehead...he was 4 inches long when I got him and almost 3' long when I gave him away...had him like 3-4 years....I have so many pumps and power heads, all kinds of stuff I use now...in fact I just used up the last of my PH kit from the fish tanks...lol...and it is much cheaper at the pet shop for some things, especially when I've been shopping there for 15 years:-P

i thought for a good 5 minutes about this. technically the plant wouldn't be getting any "more" or "less" light. it's still 50/50 so it's still getting just as much light as dark. 24 hour days are a human invention in the growroom. as far as we know, the plant might not give a shit whether the sun sets in 12 hour cycles or 10 hour cycles or whatever. i doubt it would increase yeild but it could save on electricity provided the harvest time is not actually lengthened by the practice. where i get stumped is figuring out how the plant may percieve these cycles as far as transitioning from veg to flower is concerned. let's assume for a moment that we have a fancy timer that can do all this. if the plant was being vegged according to a 24 hour day and then being flowered according to a 20 hour day, would this stress the plant? should the grower then adjust the veg cycle to something like 14/4 in preparation? this is very interesting. making the plant think that more time has passed than it really has...i really don't think it would increase yield though.

Im still standing by my theory that yield will suffer. The plant will mature quicker, but you're forcing it to do so quicker than normal so bud production will slow. Im high... these are all ideas

Interesting thought on the Veg cycle...I was planning on just vegging 18/6 and then going to a 20 hr day...the way I figure it is many people veg diff ways...24 hrs, 18/6, some for 3 weeks, some for 2 months...but the flowering is always consistant...so once they start on 10/10 I'm hoping I can trick them from that point on into 20 hour days...but starting 20 hours right from the begining and thru veg might actually stunt the growth...idk...definatly something to consider
...as far as yield goes...this is not in anyway to try and increase yield...in fact I'm expecting it to be smaller...it's the 1-2 weeks saved on flowering I'm playing with...
:fire:shouldn't fool with mother nature!!:fire:
...looking for that free day every 6 days to add up at the end:-P

Purplehazin...think so??...I guess that would program her right from the begining...it makes more since now, make her think shes on another planet from birth...lol...I wish I had my own strain to do this with so I could give it a special name...to fit the project

yeah man, some people here said that if you reduce the overall hours in a day, the yield would be less. What if you increase the day? Will you get a better yield? I don't know, I haven't smoked in 2 days, I'm delirious :)

Sounds intresting dude I say try it out if it doesn't look like they are doing good you cab always just give them more light I always enjoy seeing creative ideas being tried

...I understand that, but I'm not trying to increase yield with this...this is simply to try and shorten the flower time...thanks though

...sorry you got no smoke...thats a bummer dude:sad:

thanks man.. sucks. I'm out of cash and out of weed for a full 2 weeks. My previous grow failed miserably so nothing from there, and I had some payments to make so out of cash as well. :( Getting depressed and my head hurts like a bitch most of the day... sigh
