Thats weird,it sounds like he has a grand to drop on lights now and then add more later? Lol,im a gooder reader than most i guess lmao.

Help em out rahz :)
The 2100 series in the recommended footprint is hitting over 900 PPFD. The logic is that someone filling a 2x2 or 2x4 probably wants to make the most of the space. Same is true with a larger space but there's nothing wrong with dipping the PPFD into the 600s or 700s, it just depends on what the attempt is. Of course, if you consider the yield coming out of a 10x10 area under 900 PPFD the price can be justified.

But sure, buying a couple lamps to play around with and getting some results before a bigger investment is smart.

I was in hydro for several years..It was a system I built myself out of 5 x 5 plastic fence posts with 2 1/2 inch net pots..It was a continuous flow system..I grew tired of all of the cleaning and the need for 2 chillers...Then I went to my son's wedding and left a friend to tend to them while I was out of town...My PH meter's probe took a shit and he added a gallon of ph down to my rez and killed 12 plants in flower...I did have 4 that were in dirt that my son had given me....After that I just decided that it was much easier for me not to have to worry about pumps etc during power failures...And I harvest a TON more now...HJ

Too damned finicky. That's my experience with hydro too.

Nice setup you have there.

Switch from bulbs to cobs and you'll get more back from the electrical company. ;)

T5 bulbs are the least efficient of the options you've presented if the cost of electricity is a concern.
may not be cheaper in fact of electricty but in the long run they are cheaper last longer and once u have the whole setup the bulbs are cheaper to replace then pulling apart a led grow light just to replace one defected cob ;)or a shitty driver

any way i think rollitup is an ok place for you to promote what ever led buisness u are trying to sell here but 420 would be a better place for you as there alot of hydroshop owners and its linked with high times and maxium yeild were the shop i work at has been in twice if u like i can have a talk to a admin there and get you a page dedicated to what ever it is you are selling ;)

Properly built, a COB LED fixture lasts indefinitely. You got it all wrong on light bulb life vs COB LED, homie.

So to recap; they cost less to operate because they're more efficient, they produce a better spectrum that creates clearly better product (just paraphrasing my clients here) and need no bulb replacement, or in fact much of any maintenance at all for years, perhaps decades.

So exactly where are they inferior to HID IN ANY WAY?

Yes, HID costs less. That's because it's cheap crap you don't want around for any longer than you have to.

I mean fuck, even Gavita is trying to get out of the HID business, lol

Yes I made an error and corrected my post brother my apologies.
No worries, the point is well made that big money IS moving into this space. Personally, I think the other shoe has yet to drop in this industry, specifically the other 25 states who've yet to legalize cannabis. Plenty of potential there for many fortunes to be made.

I fully intend mine to be one of them.

One year in business and no component failures so far, over 200 lamps. 3 years of service from a 23 cob array I built for myself and still running fine. I use HLG series drivers now with a 5 year life expectancy but the drivers I used back then were Meanwell PLM-40, only 2 year life expectancy, all of them still good. I did have one driver who's dimming function did not work, but that's the kind of thing that never makes it out the door. How many years of CFL bulbs are we talking?

Anyway, thanks for the heads up on 420. I've recently expanded my advertising and am seeing how that plays out. Tasty is still a small company but I would like to get serious about advertising at 420mag at some point.

'No warranty work'. That kind of quality comes with a nice lil bonus in the wallet that's all too often left unmentioned in the rush to reduce costs.
