I was going to post in the other thread but it was more about starting the business so I thought it would be good to have a fresh thread about the Tasty brand. Feel free to post comments, criticisms, etc. Negative opinions have actually been very helpful in refining the products.

Anyway, ratchet hangers are now included with every lamp so the lamps are now fully accessorized. Lamps with dimmer knobs haven't hit the website yet but all lamps built from this point will have them (lamps currently in stock have high/low switches). I played around with a handful of pot/knob combinations and didn't like any of them til I found a tiny one that is only about 10mm high, barely comes up past the level of the fan guards and switches. Note: tiny doesn't mean inexpensive. They are actually more expensive in bulk than the standard pots are as singles, but I like them.

Other than emitter changes that will happen occasionally I don't have any more mods I'm itching to implement.

I've been mulling the 3000K 90 CRI option.

    Rahz-

Love your lights. Do you see a general LED grow light cost/price reduction coming in the near future? I don't even smoke and am just growing for fun and the price of superior lights (like yours) is putting me off altogether.

    Thanks

Comparing cost by par wattage makes the price look better. For instance, there's a recent thread asking about a "150w" lamp. It's listed at $230 on Amazon. It uses just under 90 watts. That includes fan and driver loss, so around 80 watts output to be generous. They also don't disclose their emitters and that generally means around 30% efficiency. 80 x .3 = 24 par watts.

The T1-2100 I produce is $210 and provides about 38 par watts. My larger lamps are even cheaper by the par watt, so I don't consider them expensive compared to other LEDs. I would love to undercut the competition but there's a balance of things to justify staying in business.

That being said, it's possible there could be price reductions at some point though they would be small. There have been factors that have both increased and decreased total cost. The quantity of bulk I've been dealing with increases profit a bit, but then I have turned around and added accessories and new components.

If I decide to break out of RIU (the only place I advertise) and make larger bulk purchases that would also be an opportunity to lower prices. If Cree get's knocked off their high horse and lowers their prices, or I switch brands there's possibility there too, but it's not something I can predict. Whats more likely is that prices will remain the same while efficiency (par output) increases. High efficiency is a niche I'm committed to so will likely be playing with DB bin in the near future, or maybe CD 90 CRI.

Hey @Rahz if you don't mind me chiming in. Quick question.

    (2) T2-2100's which do you think would be more suitable 3x3 tent, and or 5x3 open closet ?

3x3: for sure, you would hit even. hung side by side: closest you can get them with the daisy chain cable. the daisy cables are nice, but don't have a lot of flexibility and will pull on the light weight fixtures. in a 3x3 you don't really need them, just hang them about 6'' apart. and pending on if you get lens or reflectors for foot print.

and working in a tent is miles better then closet anyway.

the pass thought lighting is good, I'm keeping them right at 12'', I did have a few slight burns, but its was because the plant moved.
the first two pics shows how deep, its hitting. pretty good for the power. I'm thinking I put on the reflectors it would be even better.

this room is under lit as well, I need about 3 more T3-2100 to be at proper specs. The T3 is a well made unit, that drops gobs of light. I cant help but wish its had a second fan, or a sink with more SA. I'm already working on a simple fixes. the unit is so simple the solutions are endless so I was on the edge of a return, but the house keeper had already thrown out the boxes. I don't know what RAZ spent on packaging but, my estimate is about $30 bucks per unit and shipping. I will keep them =)

You might get slightly higher yield in the 5x3, but you will like the look of things better in the 3x3 come harvest time. I would work with the 3x3 and maybe down the road switch to the 5x3 and add some more light.

Thanks, i concur but ill have to use the closet space regardless as i have prepped it for work and its ready just configuring the proper lighting, and ill have to daisy chain them in the tent as well due to my wiring situation.

It was going to be either (2) T2-2100 or (2) cx300's in the 5x3 closet. I already knew (2) T2-2100 in a 3x3 would kick ass better than (1) cx300 in a 3x3 so i didn't bother to ask that one.

Im in between the t2's in the 5x3 or the 3x3. if i go 5x3 then ill purchase another tent.

Ok. I was just confused because I thought you said the 5x3 was all the space you had to work with .

Same lamps with a potentiometer beside the dimmer switch. It's just a bit of functionality I felt needed to be added. I'll be updating all the product pics along with the crude ad banners (one of which contains a misspelled word) in a week or so. Someone was quite upset about that misspelling, sent me an email and basically cussed me out over the grammar. Fun stuff. See, it's the negative comments that are most helpful :)

The negative comments are 'the most helpful?' So, you're saying that kind of feedback is what you WANT?

    Come on.

They do point out flaws. If that fine gentleman hadn't made me aware of my grammatical mistake I may have never known.

Both of my parents majored, mastered and taught English at the local university, which later became my alma mater. I used to offer my grammar and spelling correction services indiscriminately, but the reception I got was less than favorable!
