Tangerine Dream Fan Club

Sup guys. been awhile since ive posted anything on my Tangerine Dreams, mainly cuz im embarrassed by em...i got 6 plants going with 2 Tangerine Dreams and the leaves are extremely clawed. my other 4 plants are doing perfect(ecxept the Strawberry Haze that my dog pretty much snapped ALLL the roots when he went to eat a leaf and pulled it over at its roots....very tipsy now...basterd) but the others are thriving and growing plump and healthy...minus a lil over foliar spraying last week which caused a few leaf tips to brown and get spots they are doing excellent.

Im doing a basic DWC running 1500-1800ppms. base is connoisseur, additives are big bud, bud candy, liquid karma, alg-a-mic, snow storm ultra, & hygrozyme(keeps water clean and microbes alive) for about a 5 days i let it be just watching ph then i add ph water and a lil hygrozyme and some sea kelp nutes(liquid karma & biobizz's alg-a-mic). i let the plant drink on that then on about day 11 since i changed water last i add again just same mix... its like 5 ml of hygrozyme and 10ml of karma and 10ml of alg-a-mic. maybe top it off with just ph water when needed then on day 18, the ppms are about 700, i the change water and add 1500-1800ppms of nutes...

i dont think im running the nutes too high and the temp is staying nice at around 78f and water temp is a lil high at 70-72f. plenty of air circ...i got hydrofarm 4" sucking on 2 super sun 6 air cooled hoods with a 400hps & a 430hps. i have another booster inline fan in between the 2 hoods to help. a 16" fan in corner and 2 - 6" mini clip fans blowing across the kolas...a 12" fan and an 18" tower fan outside of tent bring in fresh air as well as a 240cfm fan sucking in A.C. air from the vent. my 2 diff hygro/temp gauges are at 75-80f and rh is about 40%

they have been curling/clawing since nearly day one... i just decided to say fuq it and let it go...the only thing now which could be the culprit is that the light is about 10 inches above top kola but i have 2 fans blowing directly at the top kolas with a pane of glass in between w/the a 300cfm inline fan sucking heat out...

I dont think i will attempt to grow T.D.s again... the vegging & flowering was ridiculously long. i started em 17 weeks ago and still another 5 or so to go. super temperamental when it comes to any changes to environment. i dont think it does well to stress... im growing 4 other strains successfully and its too hard to dial in the T.D.s...blah blah blah i know some strains need certain environments due to its lineage of genetics(indica/sativa, Jungle/mountain, etc etc) The Phenos of my seeds where not ideal at all...maybe i got some lil retarded ones...i dunno...well heres my pics, sorry for blabbering im way stoned...lol

ive topped it twice...my tent is only 8' tall add the bucket and light they are now 10" from bulb....i topped when 7 nodes tall like 10" tall (tried 4 kola UB style but i found out about "false branches"(lil guys on bottom that dont end up being anything) or whatev and so i ended with 2 main kolas) and then i realized they were gunna grow beyond the height of my tent at about week 8 so i had to top again... i fucked up the topping but that wouldnt effect the curling. my foliar spray mix is 1.5ml of wet betty, 5ml of alg-a-mic, & 2ml snow storm ultra in a 1 qt bottle... is that tooo strong and maybe thats curling the leaves? im a stickler on the ph and check it every other day and keep it between 5.6-6.0...when it gets at 6.0 i drop it down to 5.6-5.8ph...whatevs..its my 2nd grow...the strain is not for my environment ive built for plants so it is what it is...i just had such big hopes for the T.D....... BLAAAAAAAAAAaaaaaaaaah
the Pineapple Express kolas are about 2.5" wide avg and the 2 main kolas on the Himalayan Gold is about 3.0"-3.5" wide w/a nipple starting to grow out of the middle , like a freak....the bubblelicious is doing very well but i fucked up the topping on that so it has like bunny ears for the main kola but very frosty... ill get this whole growing thing dialed in...i learn by fucking up/pushing limits to see where not to go then adjust fire...

brother, i wish i had a setup like yours.... that is just an ideal grow environment...im limited on space and grow in my bedroom in a 4x4x8.5 tent. such a pain with such a small area to work. im going to move soon to a larger house and dedicate a room to grow in so i have room and the plants have room as well... kudos to you man!!!

Thanks buddy, I know what you mean, I did the indoor for a couple years in cabinets. I wanna keep it legal so didn't do the guerrilla grow and built a greenhouse in the yard.
Never foliar sprayed indoor cause I was afraid of getting mold... never had them claw like that either so I cant be of much help.

I have a TD about 3 weeks old and it seems to have more of a lime shade of green compared to my other plants. has anyone else noticed theirs more lime green than most?

Mine are about 6 weeks from seed and look/looked a nice healthy green.
It's wierd how this thread has stopped. Hopefully its because their TD came out so fantastically great that they've lost the ability to post.

Thanks man!! after a week or so mine cleared up rather nicely... she ate up more nitrogen than I ever gave any other plant. but she is happy and lush green now!!! not sure about the thread... i sort of came late to the show.

here are a couple pics from a couple days ago (30 days old).... and yea, that's 11 blades right there!!

Wow, That's her?
I remember looking at your pics of the training back in April and thinking "he needs more plants in there" Boy, was I wrong!
Awesome job man.

Thanks guys - I agree, this strain is a bit slow. I was starting to worry a bit that my 400w light wasn't enough to get as much of a yield of I was expecting, but it's looking better and better now as it starts to fill out more. Here's another quick close-up pic of one of the tops I took just before lights-on time this eve.... :leaf:

Now THATS what I like to see. Man that really filled out. I'm impressed.
My girls in the greenhouse still haven't turned. I got a train wreck and bubba kush that are way ahead of the TD.

Do you think training slows the flowering process?

The extensive training in veg most definitely is a factor which creates a longer flowering time (and just a plain longer overall grow time all together), but in my opinion - totally worth it! There are other things which contributed to the long flowering time as well - Barney's claims this is a 70-74 day flowering strain, but i don't think it's as stable as they claim it to be - heavier sativa dominance in the pheno I have is another huge factor. I also think that due to this being a new waterfarm unit (first time used), the hydroton was not 'seasoned' yet and therefor caused about a weeks worth delay in veg - slower than anticipated. But that gave me more time to train her before going 12/12. The end rewards easily out-weigh the extra wait time. Although we are now stuck having to actually 'buy' more pot, having run out of stash from our prev grows (didn't anticipate this long before harvest), it won't be difficult to recouperate that money with part of this yield.

Agreed - I def don't have a 'perpetual' grow by any means after this grow - with just the one plant started from seed, I'm depending on the 'speed' of growth that the waterfarm is capable of, in order to fit in more than 2 grows in a year at this rate... for me, at the end of the day, it just means more of one strain of pot (less variety in the cupboard). My next 2 strains will be started come mid-Sept, but I don't expect my next harvest to be any sooner than this coming January. But if we realize this kind of yield/quality on 2 waterfarms at the same time - we'll be more than happy to wait a bit longer for it. We def won't run out of stash in the meantime..lol. :leaf:

That is great info!!! I have four of them in flower now (perp) at different ages. I have the heavy sativa pheno. my buds will never be anywhere near as fat as yours!!! I just wanna try some to see if I'm gonna even like the smoke!!!

I'd love to see some harvest pics from ya...

Thanks man, I had a feeling that's what it was.
I been training the TD because I started them a little earlier and they are larger where I have let the others go.

Hello all, Bringing thread back to life :)

I just placed an order for 20 feminized TDs and was wondering was that a bad idea as now I see everyone is complaining of the germ rates. This will be my first grow and will be in a tent with SCROG under 12/12 from seed most probably or only 2 weeks veg at most. I am just wondering what has worked best to germ them so far? Anyway I will keep you updated as things progress.

Cheers, Jimmy

Hi Jimmy. Just found this thread. As I am currently growing BF TD. In week 5 veg at the moment. On the subject of germination the seed germed perfectly overnight in a oist papertowel. I have 4 more waiting. So far it has been good to grow. Topped about 10 days ago.
Here is a pic....
