i have 2 t5's with reflector hoods that i was wondering if they would augment my 400 watt hps during flower by mounting them on each side of my reflector. other wise ill use them both for clones and seedlings. first grow by the way.

i was reading in jorges grow bible that side lighting isnt nessasary with an hps that it really doesnt add to the yield but ive heard growers say differant,i tried t5s on the side of 4 of my plants for a few weeks and really didnt see a differance from the buds of the ones i didnt have side lighting, but then they were getting enough light to begin with, and they got in the way of my fans, but your going to need lights for your clones and seeds so you might want to use them there.but if your not giveing enough lightwith the 400 you might need the extra light,so like vv said how many plants.

i have 3 sativas(snow cap) and 3 indica variety (bubba kush) from the med center that are the same age but the sativas are about a foot taller than the bk. so maby throwing one t5 in there might work for the shorter plants. or maby even mount them along the bottom of the canopy where light is sparse. my plants are 24 inches and 38 inches, all six in 3 gallon pots. i use fox farm ocean forrest soil along with thier fertilizers and granular fertalizers.

and i was thinking the exact same thing that trapper said about the hps being brighter than the t5. i think ill set it up and if i dont like it ill build a cloning chaMBER and cut some clones. thanks guys. im gonna put some pictures up on this thread tomorrow.

i have a 400watt hps with a 4tube t5 lighting on my mommas and they are loving it, i just recently added the t5 along with the hps and i see a huge difference in color of the leaves a very rich green, more leaf development, shinier foliage, and all in all better growth.

hell ya. but you said you have 4 t5's? that would definately make a difference especially with thouse connectable reflectors. i only have 2 t5's with reflectors so i was just wondering where to put them in the grow space? (26"w x 50" legnth and 7 feet high so approximately 2 ft x 4 foot) do i hang them above the canopy or mount them along the under canopy. im kind of getting cluster fucked in that tiny ass closet. ill put up those pictures tomorrow. i got my ballast today after 18 days extra vegging under flourescents while it got fixed so i have these huge plants in a tiny space. will the t5's help? thanks for the suggestions guys.

i think the 400 is all you need for that space, save the t5s for vegging, like i said i used 3 t5s for side lighting on 4 plants at a 162 watts, and i never used any for sidelighting on the other 4 plants all under a 600,all 8 produced the same,i just feel that they recieved enough light that the sidelighting was not worth the 162 watts.im not a big fan of sidelighting when useing hps, maybe on cfl grows or useing strait t5s.plus they got in the way of the fan.when people say they dont use much energy, they use 54 watts per bulb on the 4 footers.i do not think watt for watt that they are as efficient as an hps for flowering.they work great when height space and heat are an issue, but im actually takeing them out of vegging right now because i need the heat of an hps because to run heat and lights is not efficient, its to bad becase they produce nice healthy plants.but if you feel your plants need more light then by all means add the t5s,mine were getting what they needed just with the 600.
