switching to coco

Well I have 10 white widows in 1 gallon pots for my second grow. Now I ordered a boat load of coco after reading the sticky above and was wondering if I could use coco when putting the WW into 5 gallon buckets. Is it alright if soil gets mixed in the coco when transferring the ladys. Since im in a apartment mixing dirt is not practical so this coco setup sounds like a dream. Any tips would be appreciated.

Coco has a very similar consistency as dirt, plus you have to prep the coco for use. It might not be best for an apartment but it seems you have your eyes set for this setup. I personally run DWC in my apartment.. its clean only thing i have to prep is the water and nutrients. As for transplanting into coco from dirt, i wouldnt advise it if your going to run a drip system. The organics in fox farm can muck up your res very easy and cause to many problems i wont even go into. Best bet is to rinse off the root structure if you can, and not damage anything vital for growth.

Ok thanks, I was wondering if I should rinse the roots off. I just worry about stressing them. I just started because i'm finally getting a house in the spring.... with a basement:) Really this is all just a constant learning experience. I probably would still grow if I quit smoking lol
