I remember skyscraper, Romulan, orange crush, skunk #1 and bubblegum from when I started smoking in the 90´s
I still would like to try a cali-0 strain, I have heard many say this was orange crush, back on the day, being in Pnw around eugene, that schiite was dank, hallucinogenic at times, locoweed lol. :joint:

Yeah that threw me off, space queen is romulan x c99, had it mid 2000s, along with Trinity and sadly lost both of those. I think if you really dig thru posts, that Vashon Island was where Romulan may have sprung from a korean vet bringing genetics back from that war and all way before Rom joe, late 50s early early 60s and then it seems to have really gone north because of its finishing speed? I have heard th at blueberry may have been a tribute repro to romulan, since they have a similar heritage, except blue in cali, again before dj worked it too, which seems to be an odd coincidence I guess..

To me the piney christmas tree is what I am looking for in romulan and deep chunk. Thats what I remember old romulan as, but maybe i cant remember either :)

I have a lambsbread x sour d that is a skank, speaking of jamaica...
Sharksbreath ?

Sharksbreath ?
Funny you should say, the trinity mentioned above was crossed to sharksbreath, but my cross of lb is from cannabeizen here in Ore., officially is [lambsbread × sour d] x chuy. I kept cuttings from twins from one seed actually.

Since we are talking original whites too like sharksbreath, my freebies from dcse are mislabeled, but white lighting is listed,

the orange crush and blueberry are the reasons I started growing in the first place, I wanted to have that kind of stuff around all the time. The orange crush if I remember was super dank and smelled like oranges and the smoke tasted like oranges and had us laughing for hours.

Shiskaberry was a good one and V.I.S.C (Vancouver Island Seed Company) offered that strain "fuckin' incredible", which was really good too
Shiskaberry was the perfect SOG plant, quick & great bubblehash yields. Wish I kept my shiskaberry3 cut. I'm hoping to find something close in Barbara Bud from House of the Great Gardener.

Has anyone tried the romulan IBL from Lucky 13 seeds? I emailed the guy about it & he claims romulan was never just clone only but the IBL has always been available around the island. I assume it's smoke & mirrors as I can't imagine it'd be held that tightly...

Cherry ak was fantastic, never had the pleasure of growing it but the smoke was superb
had a friend who grew it. i didn't know him at the time, as i was smoking it with a friend of his. eventually we became growing friends and still smoke together and hang out to this day. by the time i got to know him, he no longer had the AK.

but i tell him to this day, that smoking his AK-47 was what pushed me over the edge and got me growing.

i was smoking some nasty ass mexican dirt weed and his buddy kept showing up with the primo. i bought some bogglegum and nirvana seeds, joined overgrow/cannabis world and never looked back at that dirt weed...

OG/CW had a way of sucking ya into the culture, so much knowledge & passion. For me it was bubblegum that sucked me in, it was so much better tasting & always left me with a shit eating grin. Which is still what I look for in a strain.

Was KGB some kind of ak cutting with actual pedigree or was it stoner marketing. This was 94ish and gone by 96/97. Right around when ak was starting to peak or get noticed....

I think it was just a coincidence, but always wondered. Killer Green Bud.

Mighty mite. Still #1 of all time for me. Even 25 years later that is still hands down the best strain I ever saw or smoked. I remember dutchy treats was crazy good, and stuff everyone called chemo or wheelchair weed. Super light green in color, almost glowed. And had the crazy skunk smell to it.
Cheers :)
I remember growing MM in SoCal in the late 80's... as far as I'm concerned it was the RKS that everyone remembers. I finally got my hands on some seeds and am currently growing a couple out to use as breeders. I plan to F2 as well as collect pollen to make crosses. That said, these don't have the smell I remember from back in the day, it's there but nowhere near as loud as I remember. I suspect they've been watered down over the years. I live at 48 degrees north so I'm hoping by crossing in some modern genetics I can get something special that will actually finish outdoors here.

You are absolutely right about it being the RKS everyone talks about. A family moved from BC to here in the early 80s and brought it with them. I went to school with their kids and they got teased relentlessly because of how bad they smelled. Of course as kids we didn't know it was because their dad had a basement full. Were huge plants with legit football sized buds. He made his own nutes from base salts. I still have never seen plants even close to as impressive or came across anything that had that smell. I read one of his dads grow journals one time and he had it down as being mighty mite.
I don't remember what company they came from but I had 2 packs of mighty mite seeds I popped around 99ish. They were not what I was hoping for.
Cheers :)

The AK we were getting in the 90's was scary potent would trick you with a grape taste the bam right between the eyes like someone thur a rock at you.you would sit there with your eyes closed or throw up than wait on the body high to smooth it out. I would get a kick out of someone who though they could smoke,me i just sip it like wine and watch them trip.

Purple urkle is another one of those late 90s strains, mendo purps, gdp, grape ape all the same or s1s? This may be one of th e "newest" bases that has stuck around. I mean purple weed was around before Hendrix and I am not talking frosted by weather either :) but mendo purps and that type is definitive in its style and i still see it in a few polyhybrid flavors of the week/month....I get grape koolaid from old blackberry, dont think its hybridized any either, so makes me wonder on that too....:joint:
I have some original urkle. From either 1991 or 1992. It was my dads prize possession. He worked it for almost 7 years. Growing, selecting, back crossing it to itself. Then he also found a solid black GDP male back in the day. And bred it in. I have some without the GDP. But every seed I or him have popped is purple. And between us both weve went through over 300 seeds easy. I have a bunch of them. Every once in awhile a black pheno pops up. It's some of the best purple bud I have ever smoked. I wanna cross it to some gg4 cuts I have. And I have a jamaican pineapple glue that is super gluey and strong. I think would pair good with it. I just run a cut of it this year. And I wanna cross her to my cut of Lambs Pupil from Mass medical strains. Pictured last.

She smells exactly like Grape big league chew bubble gum. The shredded kind that comes in pouch. And tastes jus like a grape popsicle. Shes ready at 9ish weeks, but if you take her to 11 weeks shes solid black almost. Clear through the bud. But I usually take it just right around 10 weeks. Bc she has kick to her, and she will put you on the couch for the evening lol. The bud in the jar are from a regular purple pheno. Not the black one pictured.
