I have been searching out for afghooey and romulan recently.
Also have some NL and Deep chunk stock newly arrived. Nothing crazy special, except to me...

Hell even ATF, this was the PNW, we would get some thunderfuck right from Fairbanks.

Got me thinking about the 90s, high school, Hale Bopp

What are your superstar strains from the 90's?
Something still around, something missing, something held with heartloving warmth, whatcha got?

Original Romulan is gone, growing a Romberry now that's pretty nice tho!

The strain that I miss most is real skunk#1

Mighty mite. Still #1 of all time for me. Even 25 years later that is still hands down the best strain I ever saw or smoked. I remember dutchy treats was crazy good, and stuff everyone called chemo or wheelchair weed. Super light green in color, almost glowed. And had the crazy skunk smell to it.
Cheers :)

as mentioned above the real Romulan has apparently 'left the building' for good, you may be able to possibly breed your own by crossing Purple Urkle x C99, read somewhere are its ingredients? also you can purchase crosses of Romulan like pictured below from various vendors

Romulan is supposedly the oldest cut around. Some people say it’s been around since the 60’s and it’s supposed to be pure or nearly pure indica. No way C99 is in it.

Yeah that threw me off, space queen is romulan x c99, had it mid 2000s, along with Trinity and sadly lost both of those. I think if you really dig thru posts, that Vashon Island was where Romulan may have sprung from a korean vet bringing genetics back from that war and all way before Rom joe, late 50s early early 60s and then it seems to have really gone north because of its finishing speed? I have heard th at blueberry may have been a tribute repro to romulan, since they have a similar heritage, except blue in cali, again before dj worked it too, which seems to be an odd coincidence I guess..

We always had jamaican red hair and then when winter hit Christmas tree would show up for a couple months.
To me the piney christmas tree is what I am looking for in romulan and deep chunk. Thats what I remember old romulan as, but maybe i cant remember either :)

I have a lambsbread x sour d that is a skank, speaking of jamaica...

Yeah I recall from Potcast interviews (Mean Gene? Nspecta?) that Romulan may be the oldest cut around and might be from the late 60’s. True or not? Who knows.

And I did some more reading on it, and the story is that it started with seeds from Korea, which was crossed with Colombian/Mexican, eventually crossed with Afghani and then selected for short, fast phenos. So it likely does contain sativa genetics, but grows like an indica. Definitely pre-dates C99 and probably Urkle too.

I still see both around and would like to work Mighty mite for my climate. I think there is a manitoba poison x mighty mite in bean form, too many good genetics!!

Im all about bringing strains in that can handle 45n or above, growing hazes outside in the Pnw is usually very dumb, but people do it still and breed with it and with it wet climate hating phenos lol...

The original, a cut or? Cause i or anyone for that matter can grab Federation' s version in seed form. I know its debated about being changed,

Here are some rom crosses too

Rom / Hashplant x guerilla gold 5 boggy bottom
http://hempdepot.ca/seeds/BoggyBottom/index.html#rom-hpxgg5

Rom / sour d x sourbubble Alternative seeds
http://hempdepot.ca/seeds/Alternative/index.html#chimneyboy

And the skunk thing, well i have found some "old skunk" recently too, bagseed from a dispenso, but very unique s1s that remind me of early 80s skunk, and maybe not ruined by too sweet of s3lection? Skunk has pretty much died a slow death but it lives on the strongest too eh....

Purple urkle is another one of those late 90s strains, mendo purps, gdp, grape ape all the same or s1s? This may be one of th e "newest" bases that has stuck around. I mean purple weed was around before Hendrix and I am not talking frosted by weather either :) but mendo purps and that type is definitive in its style and i still see it in a few polyhybrid flavors of the week/month....I get grape koolaid from old blackberry, dont think its hybridized any either, so makes me wonder on that too....:joint:

Bubblegum & the whites (white widow/rhino/shark) were always special when we got them. M-39 was usually around, if we were lucky we'd get some NYPD Green that had a incredible cherry taste. Plus a whole lot of afghan gold seal hash, that was basically only concentrate as the oil around here was always shit.

Well the name Romulan is a Star Trek reference so 60s the earliest, for that name anyway. The strain may have been around well before the show but just the roman stuck versus any older names for the strain. Cheers

I got an email from Romulan Joe earlier this year over a related matter and he said original Romulan was gone for at least 5 years, so that is what I'm going by

Also if you have the real skunk#1 hold on to it because you're now a millionaire! :hump:
-good luck!

Ooh a romulan joe response, argument over. [Im just teasin a bit, please remain calm]

Next generation claims to work it. He said, she said on a lot of this stuff, i take all with a grain of salt due to the optics of getting your head dented in by the Man.

I laugh a lil because someone familiar to me used to grow in the Pnw, way before the 60s, enough to pay off judges and shit, those genetics were given off eventually and I can only wonder what they were....
