i took a cutling and placed it into the starter cup with root hormone, then poured the store brand solution into the empty container and let it flow down into the lid of the cotainer holding the plant. 1cfl 42w is hanging from the lid approxiamately 10 or so inches from the top of the cutling. i layered the mediums in the pot, 1st perlite 2nd sand 3rd african violet moss? whas this cool, would i be able to grow dro feeding 6 times a day? any & all constructive input is appreciated. peace

Are you going to be feeding the plants yourself or are you putting it on a timer with a pump?

ill be waterin it manually, 6 times a day. is that sufficient? also while at the garden/hydro store i came across a brown brick with a texture similar to the outside of a coconut , was this rockwool ?

oh no, jus plain tap water that has sat. the first watering had a pinch of root hormone mixed in it after that str8 water. should i switch up?

That should be good. I seen your supposed to use 1 teaspoon per gallon, just keep it low strength and work your way up. You should be alright.

Well, I guess it's OK for a small plant, but usually hydro systems don't contain soil. I've heard that soil will grow a plant by itself, without any hydro nutes, and that's just crazy. So it may cause you problems. You shouldn't have to water that often when the plant is small, maybe 2-3 times a day.

A thought came to me: Spontaneity may be great for parties, not so good for hydro grow ops. :blsmoke:

true thoughts. i really want to prove to my girl i can grow dro w/o breaking 100$. since i have a soil mother i was able to dumb it down to a very basic caveman like method, at least i think it is. the soil is there due to the fact i couldnt think of what was supposed to be in place of it, bringing me to my next ? what can i use to replace that soil?

You want to spend under a $100 bucks and have results. I would have built a DWC for 30 bucks. Nutes for another $30. Lights another 30-40 and been done with it.
