Super Soil Results

I've gone through a full grow using a different supersoil type mix and it turned out real nice... but the plants were low in yield.

So I figured I shouldn't cut corners, put my nose to the grind stone got all the right stuff. Mixed it up carefully and cooked it for a month. 2 weeks into flowering and these plants look pretty much the same as the others did 2 weeks in.

I was kinda bustin your balls there... i'm all for customizing the super soil recipe. I will probably change it up a little bit next time. But at the same time, there's really something to be said for the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" rule. There are some crazy dank nugs in these pics! I'm in my first grow so I'm still amazed at what some people on here have grown. :peace:
Yeah, don't get me wrong. I know it can produce some real nice clean smoke. I just feel like yield is lacking and I know potassium is important for any plant. I have a conspiracy theory that commercial growers have coveted secrets to getting nice big tasty yields and purposefully misinform smaller time growers so they will get discouraged :fire:

xx plants :-o
Black Domina
1 week veg under 400w MH (I use SOG method)
7.5 weeks flower (short veg time usually means short flower time: or so I've read... I'm beginning to realize how full of shit a lot of people are about this.)
Temps were a little wonky because it was summer but I tried to keep it around 80 degrees 40% humidity (which according to The Cannabis Grow Bible and Marijuana Horticulture is perfect for flowering)
Watered at 6.2 ph and used tiger bloom once a week (might have gone heavy on the tiger bloom)

I actually just remembered something, I didn't use the subcool recipe on that one... But these plants look exactly the fuckin same... tall and skinny

Wow ok so plenty of light,
Great temps,
good nutes
Black Domina I had to look up online and looks like a mostly indica hybrid? So it's probably not the genetics making it tall and stretchy... have you lowered the lights at all?

Sooo the whole grow cycle takes 8.5 weeks? 1 for veg, 7.5 for flower. That's a total of like 59-60 days. Now the most important question, what was your yield per plant???

Thanks for sharing man!!

A quarter ounce a plant. It was good, but I was disappointed. Again, that was a different organic recipe. Same basic building blocks though, the supersoil adds a few things... still no potassium though. And I really think that's a problem. I worked for a commercial grower (trimming/big leafing/ transplanting) and his plants would be fat as shit by the time they went to the flowering room. He would veg for 3 weeks - month, and they would get about as tall as my plants are now in their third week but thick and lush. Mine look healthy... just skinny as fuck and already bending under their own weight.

shmoop - keep us posted on your results if you decide to stick with the Super Soil but add in some Potassium. I will add some in my next batch too.

what are you guys talking about? the original SS is great, it's not your problem, genetic, lighting, size of the container, watering frequency, portable fan to build strong plants, so many variable. If SS is not working out for you try a different strain to make sure there is nothing wrong with the way you mix it up or something. I am guessing there is something wrong with your setup?

Exactly....what size container are you using? SS is best suited for bigger plants with a 5 gallon or bigger pot and a 45-60 day veg..... A week or 2 is barely enough time to root. A shorter veg time may lead to a shorter flowering time but its going to leave you looking under the dirt for your yield because that shits not going to be found. I wont say a SOG and small pots cant be done with SS but its going to take experimentation and time to get right.

If you wanna run smaller pots and organic soil look into using act teas and/or a bottled organic nute, that would be the easiest way I would guess but that kinda defeats the purpose of SS....which is ease of use....

Sorry but you can't just take a strain and toss it into SOG and expect it to yield. The dirt mix is not yer problem man. Besides, what do you expect a 3 week old plant to look like?

If you got a 1/4 o a plant and are doing a good SOG (4 per sq ft) then you should be killing it anyway. What's the problem again?

7-10 gallons container 12/12 from seed yes. I assume you were talking to me because you quoted me but I do not want to use smaller pots, bigger pots bigger yield.

Dude whitey already said it....this guy is throwing small plants in the super soil which is a pretty hot mix.....his plants are growing that way because they were too young when they got there "feet" in ss mix......follow Sub's recipe and his instructions to a T and I guarantee you won't be complaining about yield or spindly plants......if you want to do sog....use 1-2 gallon containers and you can probably get away with using just roots organic all the way through, if they run out of nutes just top dress with some super soil .....FYI plants stretch when they have too much N in flower....and yield is compromised.....

I'm not saying there is anything wrong with super soil... Just that it seems to be lacking in potassium.

Yeah I have done shit tons of research, thanks. I don't spend a lot of time wading through cannabis forums trying to figure out who is full of shit and who knows what they are talking about.

And if YOU took the team to read my posts you would see that I had already found a link to a supersoil with k in it :blsmoke:

I took the time to gather this....your getting a 1/4 a plant, and complaining they are stringy...and proceed to blame the lack of k in supersoil...then back track and say that 1st batch isn't supersoil but the new batch is in supersoil and looks the same...keep researching son...you obviously still haven't done enough.

You talking shit to me is highly laughable. I not only have done my research but have much here on RIU to prove it.

No sir, just further elaborating on the prior poster, just quoting you as your post mentioning container size is what made me post....
