Super soil is good. But is it really the best?

I think Super Soil is a good option, BUT i Think it needs some tweaking and thinking about it.

First let me present my self, cause i'm new to this forum.

I Live in Buenos Aires, Argentina now. I will move to California in september.

Now...

ORganics is the major option in Argentina.
99% of the growers i know (and i met about 100) Al DO a "kind of supersoil" and Organic teas.

I also use Aminoacids- Bio-estimulant....from a Company called Phitonat.

So this way the plant is stimulated to eat more and more.


I Think there are a couple Bad choices in Super Soil.

1) Bone-blood Meals : Take tooooo long to be available to the plant. You can burn a plant if you overdose (specially Blood meal) I have seen my plants go "black green" with blood meal.
I also found that everytime i smoke a joint with a grower that uses all the meals, the bud has an specific taste, i kind of not like.

2) More Guanos needed!!! More Bat Guano, with a higher Phosphorus......another with more N.
RABBIT Guano!! IS fantastic.
The Best Guano for cannabis is the Rabbit. Previously dried & composted. ( to be used from the veg estate)


3) There should be a different mix for Veg and Flowering.
Because it makes no sense to put High N Guanos on the Flowering mix.
With the wormCastings is enough for flowering....



So Mainly, that is what i would change....actually what i do.
IS exactly SUPER SOIL

Without the Meals.
Rabbit Guano.
Bat Guano.
MORE Worm Castings than the original SS in the mix.

Then in week 3 of flowering make a tea Banana+Molases+Celery+Potato+Advocado= All High Potasium. (i Use the left overs)-- alternate this tea every two times. Stop teas 10-15 days before harvest.


I found thru this method the best Bud production quality & quantity.

Im loving all the info, guess i gotta try it for myself because i havent really heard anything bad about the mix. Ill have to compare (once i can get money to start growing haha )

I think one misconception about "super soil" varieties is that the plant will uptake whatever is in the soil right away. Blood meal is available immediately, to counter what someone said above...but a plant only uses what it wants, in properly balanced soil mediums. You can ramp the nutes up really high, and microbial activity basically makes it available slowly. So the whole "need it at the bottom" is garbage. I'd use it at the top, too!

Dont like it ? Then do as Sub did and tweak Vic Highs original recipes to your liking and call it your own Super Soil !

Well my main point is that I think having a hot soil will keep the plants from spreading its roots quickly. If the soil isnt very strong for the first month or two the plant can root a 30-40 gallon pot, then you pour in bottled nutrients and now it has a giant rootbase and it also has a perfect balance of nutes assuming u feed it right.

I grew three Flo plants in my greenhouse this fall. One more soup/bottled style, one rize up veganic and one subcool supersoil. All three yielded in the same range but the clear winner was the SS plant. And it was by FAR the easiest to produce. Better density, resin production and boquet and flavor even than the veganic (which was sadly less dense), also I have run many rounds of indoor veganic.

SS = easy and dank = WIN! Don't take my word for it, TRY IT with two cuts and see for yourself!

I grow Chemical and my buddy swears by SS. We have done side by sides 2-3x and used a random taste tester.

He has won half the time and I have won half the time.

My buds are always bigger than his as well.

I like SS, i might give it a go sometime but to be honest, im a big fan of chem nutes and their ease of use and the results are great if you know what you're doing and know how to finish it off.

What im doing now is Organic feeding in veg and chem in Flower. It's lookin to be the best results yet.

Dude I was a chem nute user for 5 years and if you think that is easy then you need to try super soil, fucking easy dude. All you have to do is water when needed thats it. YOu can step it up a notch and add some teas and what not but Super Soil is too fucking easy, the only hard part is mixing the shit together and putting it in a bin. Now you can buy TGA's charge pack online and just buy the soil of your choice and mix.

I could never find their charge online but did find someone selling one on ebay. i think you posted it actually.

here is the thing with SS. Everyone I know using it, in life and on Youtube grows is always needing to add shit in Flower. Seems like a great way to grow for veg but for flower if you have to start adding bloom enhancers and shit whats the purpose? I grow with powder nutes right now so its basically, scoop, stir, done.

I'm not anti SS im just not sure it's for me in a commercial environment growing for retail shops.

^ thats because they havent nailed down the top feed, 2-3 weeks into flower some strains want their pots topped off with SS. this gives the boost needed to finish out, as for a diff veg mix, not needed. the N in SS is used up quickly

To get the big buds and larger yield, aside from strain. Its all about the root ball. Bigger and healthier the roots, the larger the yield. Dwc gets huge results due to giant root balls that take up a whole bucket. I start in cups. Then transplant to 1.5gal then 3 gal then 7 gal. Now each time I transplant into 3 gal then 7 gal. I cut a few inches of soil and roots. Which in turn makes a larger root ball. Just like the hydro guys.

If I have phos def. I make a guano tea and they're good.


Btw initially starting and making super soil is in no way cheap by any means. I just started a batch. I subbed guano for blood meal. I spent close to $200. If I don't have any used soil already composted. Im going to have to spend another $100 on more soil for the top half. Then the rest of the amendmants I have left over will go into next few batches.

Yeah thats where top dressing with super soil and watering with AACT teas come into play.

Yeah it will run you a good 200-300 bucks when its all said and done.. I dont re-use my soil but thats about what I spend on soil and making the TGA super soil charge. Still pretty cheap one plant yielding 2 ounces will make up the cost.

After 2 harvest with supersoil il say that the stuff is fucking incredible. Im telling you just add water and the plant has everything it needs. The resin production is absolutely amazing with this stuff...i mean every leaf covered. It's all about the resin this soil produces resin!

Beav. You should try reusing soil. It saves alot of loot. I break it down and remove the root ball. Mix in compost and ewc. Mix it up and let it cook for a week. Then add 1 new bag of roots for every 15-20 gal of reused composted soil. Then let it cook /compost for a few more weeks. Then its good. The new bag adds plenty of more perlite too. Then that can be added super soil or use for the top half. I only buy 2 or 3 new bags every 4-6 weeks.

When it comes to soil, compost and ewc are your best friends

Its all that "cooking and waiting" time that is BS with Super Soil. We don't have that kind of time or patience.

lol well if you amend soil and dont cook it, your failing as an organic grower as amendments take time to activate, bone meal for example takes 1-2 months, where alfalfa meal takes up to 6 months before the N is available.

with a little planning, you should have no problems with SS, but if your a lazy grower chem nutes are probably for you

You wont have to play the waiting game if you have a few batches cooking at the same time.. The stuff is good to "cook" for up to 12 months.. Use one batch and replace.. By the time you need the 2nd batch the soil will be ready to use..Super Soil is a big resin producer too you can tell when you smoke it...

I will be doing that in the near future, I will be honest I spent about 5 years growing nothing but hydroponics, this past summer my grow buddy talked me into going organic so this is my second grow using organic / super soil.. Right now I'm studying my AACT teas!! I recently found a local nursery that carries compost so I will definitely be reusing my soil in the near future, just taking it one step at a time.
