strengthening seedling stem?

My seedling stem was bending over, someone recommened that i push soil up against it to straighten it. i have did this. then they said to get a fan and blow it on the seedling.

now since ive pushed the soil up against the stem, its not really showing. only the leaves are. should i still get a fan to blow on it? even though you cant see the stem?

One thing you can do is make sure the light is close enough so the plant doesn't stretch to much, making the stem weak. I would still get a fan, but make sure it's not to strong for your plant. Good luck

Hi, the plant could grow more roots now. In the soil you added. A fan will thiken the stem and provide fresh CO2 for the leaves.

I wonder if you could use the supercropping technique of stem crushing on the seedlings once they are a bit stronger? (2nd or 3rd node)

A tip for avoiding this in the future is to sow directly into medium and immediately place them under lights. Keep lighting on 24/7 until it sprouts then switch to 18/6 or whatever schedule you prefer. Essentially skipping the pre germination step altogether. Doing it this way insures the seedling gets lighting the moment it breaks down.

Now once a seedling has already stretched the first thing you should look at is your lighting. Adjust distance, add more lumens, etc. Then bury the stem in dirt. Adding a fan will help exercise new growth but be careful not to point fan directly at the plant. You want a nice breeze, not a hurricane simulation.
