To my knowledge, the Med marijuana folks that are getting busted by the Fed's are busted for growing commercially, and not just for their own illness.
The laws, where growing is allowed for Med use, are pretty strict on NEVER sharing, giving away, selling or distributing weed. I've had a dozen (non-med) users ask me to sell, and I tell 'em not only NO, but "Fuc No!". If a med user I KNOW contacts me and is in trouble, I will help them by referring to sources they might check, of course, but to risk my health and my families welfare for it just isn't worth the chance.
For most med users, no weed means expectations of massive pain, or seizures, etc.
Some approved "Med" users are sadly no more than commercial operations disguized as med users, and that gives us all a black eye.
Without my medicine (weed) I am nearly 100% disabled. With it, I can function as a normal, working taxpayer who pays his bills instead of living off the gov't teat.
It is in Uncle Sam's best interest to leave those of us following the state laws alone, so my guess is the "target" for the Fed's is those abusing the right to grow their own med., instead using the approval for growing commercial and making all med users look like criminals.
If'n someone want s to grow (harvest) 100 plants a month commercially, then they should take their chances like other commercial growers and not risk the help of fellow users. And yes, some med users can require up to 24 oz. a month to control massive pain, but I think the average is likely to be 4-8 oz. a month.
And yeah..this issue pisses me off. Any Med marijuana user should follow the law to the "T", as they are the forerunners of legalizing MJ for the US. If folks would show some reasonable restraint and grow for their illness only then all would be well. JMHO
