Came back home tonight to two surprised.

1. My first girl seems to have loved the little blast of big bro because her leaves have again stretched and I can definitely see the second set starting to come up from the middle, pics on that once they are visible (crap camera phone)

2. My second girl did not like the fox farm, she was completely slumped over on her side. So I took her out and cut up half a rapid rooter and put that on the bottom of a full rooter, placed her gently inside of both (since her tail is already so long). Im not sure if its because i put in too much perilite or the soil wasnt dense enough on top or if she didnt enjoy the nutes that are already in the ffof. Anyways, im hoping she can pull through the night, shes gonna have 6 hours of darkness come 3am-9am, hoping it doesnt do her in :( Pics of my dilemma.

The holes in the rapid rooters are too big.. the soil should be up against the seedling.

You really need to stop touching your seedlings btw.

These were my seedlings, see how healthy they look?

Their stems are supported by the soil, they are standing erect and the leaves are round and green.

Thats one seedling. My other girl is doing great. I had to move her, I think the nutes in the fox farm soil was hurting her and is what was stressing her out. Shes gonna remain in the rapid rooter until she perks up (technically 2 rooters) her stem is against the rooter itself, its only the opening thats big, the rest of the rooter is pretty snug. If i didnt move her i guarantee she woulda died in that fox farm ocean forest soil.

I'm not trying to be mean. I am trying to help. You are overthinking this. Seeds go in soil 1/4 inch and pop out on their own. They will not pull themselves out of the soil. Just plant them and LEAVE THEM. Don't cut open soil and take out, don't touch them AT ALL.

My second seed has sprouted but hasnt bucked the seed off yet, so i cut the rooter in half on one side and placed the tap root snug inside of the rooter ( it was growing so long it almost pushed itself out ), watered it and left it in the rooter inside of the humidity dome, this one is going to be nuted. Pics tomorrow with my updates!

^ that is exactly what you SHOULDNT do.

Dude, the root outgrew the rooter and was crushed underneath of it, wtf do you expect me to do, I couldnt have put it in ffof at that point because it WOULD have died. Just like it WOULD have had i left it alone tonight.

My first seed is flourishing in a great way and I did with it the exact same thing I did with the second seed. THE ONLY difference is the second seed i tried taking right to ffof soil before the cotyledons were even open. That has been my only mistake with her. And its not like I rub all up on her with my dirty hands. I have sterile non latex gloves from work that come in a sterile pack.

Look at my picture man, the taproot literally grew so long it came out of the bottom of the rooter and was crushing itself under the rooter and the tub it sits in, I had to move it. So I took it to straight soil, FFOF, which is nute heavy as it is and I guarantee that is what was stressing her and causing her to dump over. So i put on a fresh pair of sterile non latex gloves and put her snug in to 2 rooters that i combined together. Her cotyledons arent even developed, I shouldnt have gone to soil with her yet, at least not nute heavy soil like ffof, if anything I should have gone to light warrior.

Just want to see you have success, its frustrating to watch. I really wish you would use pro-mix. or a blend made for seedlings.

Im having success with my first girl man, look at the pics, the rooters work, i havent had to mess with my first girl once I left her alone and shes doing great, she will be ready for transplanting once I get the second set of true leaves and I can already see them starting to sprout out of the center, 1 or 2 days max.

Pro mix is expensive and im not sure any local big box stores carry it. I can buy a bag of light warrior if needed which is great for seeds, unferted soil.

@HardCorps420 Ill follow yours and thanks for following mine man!

@fatalphenom thanks for the post man, glad your following!

I agree, i have just read everywhere that your safe putting it in to fox farm once the second set of leaves comes out. I also dont want to put them in to damp soil when the lights are going off soon, temps drop. I may do it tomorrow once the lights come on.

And this is why people just put seeds into soil lol. Only reason I'm going to peat pellets then into FFOF is because last time FFOF burned by plants. A quick flush fixed that though. All this moving on the other hand puts the very fragile girl under a lot of stress. I wouldn't transplant until your third set just to give the girls some time to recover. If you haveto transplant at the second set wait until they are the roughly the same size as the first set is now.

Yeah I wont transplant them unless I have to, in this case, i had to transplant that second girl, she looks fucking terrible as compared to how she looked when I took her out of her rapid rooter this morning and put her in to the soil, she looked great then. I may have over thought and she may have just been adjusting to the new medium and lights etc but the droopiness didnt seem right. My first girl is doing great though, she loved the minuscule amount of grow big she got today. Pics tomorrow of her.

just start the jiffy rooter in to soil
i hate to say it but u are messing with plant to much
u shouldnt even see a taproot
when u start a seed and it breaks surface put the plug it soil

Im not sure this type of plug will break down in the ffof soil. Im not messing with my first girl at all, shes growing great.
