I make up a gallon solution (1 gram per gallon) of pool shock, then dose the reservoir. I used to measure it, now I just dump it in.

The stuff at my Walmart is that 3in1 or 4 in one shock gonna order some plain old shock if ibcan find some. What's the best way to do it? Shock then nutes or??

Cold water and no light should be safe. How cold is cold for you?
What nutes - ANYTHING organic in hydro nutes is bad and will accelerate bad bacterial growth.

I just use plain bleach throuh a pipette. No more than 3 drops per gallon of water.

UC root works fantastic, some people don't like the price though.

Pool Shock is literally the exact same thing, except costs $6 to treat nearly a million gallons of water.

I guess you're sort of right, with UC Roots you pay for 99.9% water and 0.1% hypochlorous acid. With HTH Pool Shock you are paying for Calcium hypochlorite, which when dissolved in water creates a much higher concentration of hypochlorous acid.
End result is 100% the same, just you pay hundreds of times more for it.
