I love your design, I just see the ventilation could be designed a little better. It would be optimal if they were on opposite sides, so that the air could circulate through the box. I would have put an exhaust fan up where the lights are, as that is where most of your heat is going to be generated from..you could still do that, just add a smaller size comp. fan up top!

The intake and exhaust fans are on opposite sides of the back of the box but i couldnt put them on the sides or front because then it wouldnt be stealth. As for the exhaust fan it is directly below the lights because the lights take up the whole top part of the box and the fan wouldn't fit there. but if you look it is 1/4" below the lights.

White Widow seed has broken the surface of the soil, the SourDesiel hasnt yet but i am sure it is right behind the WW. temp is running between 82-84% with fans set to 50% power and humidity is around 50% after waterings and 40% before. I am using distilled water and no nutes yet. The soil is fox farm i forget which one is was a baby blue bag with fish on it.IMG_0055.jpg

I think that im going to end up building a stealth veg cab..My original room that i wanted as my grow space wont work because i live in a condo and they come around to do maintenance outside..ie painting, and i dont want to have to worry about prying eyes on my room. I have debated doing an op in my garage with a couple cabinets, but the heat is an issue there. My bathroom seems to be the best location for me for now, unless i did something in my master bedroom..then i have to worry about hearing the fan buzz all night long. Decisions decisions.....

Have you considered trying your laundry room? mine is a small closet or else that is where i would have put mine.
Prying eyes is the reason i decided to build a stealth box. I live in a rented house with my girl who is just as excited about growing as i am but i do have a landlord, though he has yet to come by unless i called him needing something fixed ( our stove-top died once ) it only takes him showing up one unexpected time to get sent to jail. I am currently using my grow box as a night stand next to my bed because i figured the landlord would never have a reason to go in there, and if by some reason he did i have a fan sitting on top of the grow box on low so that the slight fan hum coming from the box would be associated with the visible fan sitting on the dresser. The noise doesnt keep me up at night at all but i do think once that i build my flowering cabinet i will probably be relocating them both to the game room because 2 might be a little loud in my bedroom.

Ah it was the back that opened. I thought the previous pictures where the front opened. I made, boarded my drawers to make them look, like... a set of drawers and turned it into a door.

Dam I wish I had made the back wall the door now... :( Would be easier to check fans and what not... :(. LOL well I'll have to replace the ply with some mdf. LOL Good inspiration I'll upgrade my grow LOL.

I was actually wishing i had made the front the door so i didnt always have to turn it around to check my plants because i am checking on them every few hours because i have no patients what so ever. Replacing your ply wood with mdf is well worth the effort. MDF is much easier to work with, it doesnt split, it sands smooth, and its a easy to work with because its a standard 1/2" thick. Post some pics of your build on here for everyone to see.

My laundry room only has room for the washer and dryer...That wont work. The only space that i have is in my master, or i would have to use the garage...the wife shot down the attic, plus that's a huge pain to get up there and to have water access...i like the bathroom because its so convenient. I want more plants though...the large res DWC is getting scrapped and im bringing back the RDWC 5 gal buckets. I think that i might be able to fit 3-4 in the tub.

In the tub? that is serious dedication giving up a whole bathroom to your plants. I sure hope you have more than one bathroom lol. On the good side bathroom has built in exhaust fan and easy water access!

I have 3 so this one works out great, but explaining to guests...haha..i tell them the shitter is broken and they cant use it.. For the next time around im adding a carbon scrubber and replacing the exhaust fan with a 400-600 CFM fan, i will use a Y splitter for the light and the filter...that should help keep the temps down in there..it gets up to about 81..i would like to keep it no higher than 75!

Ye I'll go down to bunnings today to pick up a sheet of mdf, post some pics when I can find the jigsaw somewhere in the shed lol. Same no patients here, It's infuriating checking it every few hours. I don't deal its all to myself, all my friends thought I quit smoking when I started uni. Fuck it, its healthier than drinking thats for sure.

Bad news on the box... the 2 fans that i had blowing hot air from the lights up top, down where the exhaust fan could blow it out, died on me lastnight ( NOT the intake or exhaust ). After examining everything and breaking one of the fans open my conclusion is that the heat just at the lights ( on the first shelf its running at 82 degree F ) melted some solder in the fans and in the cellphone chargers i had powering them. Well my solution to this was order 2x 4.5" ecoplus axial fans offline they are AC fans with plugs that move 112 CFM. I chose these fans because it is the same brand ( just 4.5" instead of 6" ) that i am using for my intake and exhaust and those fans move mad air, are quiet, they also feel heavy and of great quality. This will put the box at 694 total CFM now, will post pics in 5-7 business days when they get here.

If you look at the pictures you will see what fans and cellphone chargers i am talking about.

Well done, I like your box, it's very similar to what I want to do with an old dresser as well to experiment with LED, as you can see I still have a lot to do,... I won't get my light for another 3 weeks... anyway, I ll be following your grow!! :blsmoke:

I have seen the grow room that you made so i am sure the dresser will turn out just as nice, i can the time and effort you put into it.

thanks!, I am trying to keep that project low-profile... $$$ there will be no carbon filter and few other gadgets that I can't afford, ... I just ordered a fan speed controller just like yours for my main room though. hehe for the time and effort, I am lazy, I am trying to set things up so all I have to do is give em water!

lookin good. Yeah I was like "sweet lots of CFLs" but that always causes some type of heat issue. :( sorry to hear. good luck with the new fans! check out my grow, similar idea, I went with a much crappier dresser and only made one door open for access to the plants, but its just enough to get my head it.

Think about doing some intakes on the actual bottom of the box (where the plants will sit) and leave your exhaust fans at the top, once you replace the fan units.

The number1022, ... its a squeeze fit for your head isnt? I was gonna do the same thing but I want to scrog and I figured it would have been a pain to do everything through the small opening!! can you open the full back for regular maintenance hehe!?
