Hey fellas (and ladies too lol), first off I would like to say that you guys have done some awesome grows and provided a SHITLOAD of helpful/useful information throughout this site,I cant believe how much shit i've read about and learned in the past month or so. Ive been doing nothing but reading other peoples grow journals/threads and collecting as much information as possible to construct my first grow project. I think now I feel comfortable enough to go ahead and make my own little journal so.... here it is. Enjoy bongsmilie

I've decided that for now with the space and limitations I have at the moment I will go with the 'stealth' approach and use this cabinet that I obtained from my local Goodwill for cheap
:D

DIMENSIONS: 4 1/2ft TALL x 2ft WIDE x 1ft (give or take a few inches) DEEP
-its divided into 2 units the bottom being a bit taller than the top section. I plan on using the top section for Vegging, as you will see in the upcoming pictures. I'm not quite sure what I will use the bottom for yet, if I will use it at all. right now it just holds supplies lol.

Heres a few pictures of the inside before any plants in there:

Covered the inside with mylar, then I used industrial strength velcro that I got from HOM DEPOT to hold up my power strips, man does that work well I suggest it to anyone. Some Y-splitters x3, and CFLs of course. heres what i chose for lighting:

x4 GE General Purpose Daylight 26w 6500k @ 1600 lumens each.
x3 Ecosmart Daylight 27w 5000k @ 1750 lumens each.

Equalling 185watts/11650 lumens.

For the ventilation right now being temporary until I can figure something out, and this works perfect for me so far, is like this:

Theres no back to the cabinet it is all open so I have it pushed as far back as i can have it inside my closet to the wall.(I also put a small board on top to keep all light inside and tucked a few shirts in the corner where the fans are. Sweet. I took a huge cut of mylar and hung it behind the cabinet all the way down the wall. I have a small 5 or 6 inch clip on fan(in picture) sticking out of the corner, then on the other side of the cabinet I have another fan a little larger taking the hot air out, and temps stay in the 70s at night, low 80s during the day
:blsmoke: and so far.....so good.

+This being my first grow, I only have bagseed to experiment with, so.... here are my 7 babies, Lucky 7 so hopefully a few will be girls...:weed:

TEMP:81 degrees
HUMIDITY:27%

I chose to name my plants just for the extra motivation and excitement.

Jess, Angel, and Ashley were planted on 3/14, they are 2weeks1day old.

Kelly was planted on 3/15, 2weeks exactly today.

Mandi and Jamie were planted on 3/16, they are 1week6days old.

****ALSO "JESS" AND "ASHLEY" WERE TOPPED ON 3/28****

And this is "Veves", I hope and pray that she is a SHE. she is looking fine.

I plan to top her later on today, shes 4weeks old, Planted on 3/1. I am feeding her 1/4th strength GROW BIG by Foxfarm. No problems beside a little yellowing of some leave tips.

I also plan on using the whole Foxfarm nutrient lineup for my first grow.

heres a shot of them inside all settled:

I also plan to use LST as my space is again limited guys, I've been reading quite a bit about it however I dont really know how it will go, we will see later on, I hope that some of you could maybe teach me a thing or two about the LST like when to start, how, etc.

otherwise enjoy guys...I will try to update atleast once a week. :joint:

Sorry about the picture quality guys my 8MP camera phone kinda sucks :/

a 150W HPS puts out roughly 15.000 lumens.
the same amount of 2700k CFLs, 12.000.

but since you have such a limited vertical space, consider that the HPS needs to have a good ventilation and to stay a little further from the top of the plant(s) - compared to CFLs.
And finally, since you have a base area of 2 sq. feet, 7.500 lumens /sq foot (HPS) is very good but 6.000 lumens (CFLs) *may* be enough, considering that you would also have multiple sources of light & you would be able to keep the bulbs closer to the plant(s).

HPS are great (BY FAR the best lumen/watt ratio) I would go with CFLs, mixing spectrums (that is: throwing a couple of 6500k along with the 2700k) and adjusting to the wattage your plant(s) need along the way ...but hey this is just my two cents ;)

Bump c'mon guys what up?? Trifase thanks for your info :D I will probably end up getting the same amount of CFL in 2700k.

Hey guys a little mini update on Veves today is 4wks(29 days) in the veg state I plan on switching over to the flower cycle later in the week when I get some supplies and a chamber figured out. I did some LST to her I thought I did an alright job so feedback or input would be appreciated again this is my first grow, here are some pics:

Picture 1 & 2 = side shots
Picture 3 = a top shot

Looking good. I would agree with trifase about going with CFLs versus HPS in that tiny space. You could cram 400w of CFL which would maximize coverage and still not be running too hot but even a 150w hps will require venting if you plan on getting it close enough to the plants to maximize growth.

Hey guys its been a few days now since I posted anything new so ill get down to what ive been up to the past few days....

I made myself a simple box for flowering the dimensions are as follows: 20" wide by 30" tall by 20" deep. I constructed it out of 5 sheets of Elmers foam posterboard, I also picked up two 4" personal fans (1 in, 1 out), A couple powerstrips, A box of 23w 2700k CFLs, Y-splitters, An analong timer, and some Industrial Strength velcro (for fastening shit down.)

First I lined 4 sheets of the Elmers foam board with mylar then I cut out 2 circular holes for the fans. (the intake is on the bottom, exhaust at the top, in opposite corners. Screwed them through some holes I poked and fastened those. After that I lined the roof with mylar and used Duck tape to fasten the corners together, I can access through the top folding up and down. I cut two templates of where I wanted the power strips to sit and I used the Industrial strength velcro to hold the powerstrips to the box (shit works just as well as it did for my shoes in kindergarden  ) I also used other small strips of velcro so that I can move the lights around higher and lower and shit. however the lights were fallin out of the sockets from the weight so an easy fix I used string and a tack through the posterboard to hold it up. Oh I also used more of the velcro to keep the top lid tight the only light that leaks out now is from the bottom from it sitting on the floor and the intake fan, but I aint too worried about it.

Here are some pictures of the box and wiring and shit:

^^Here you can see the huge light leak.

Temps stayed in the higher 80s the highest getting to 88 at times but I fixed that just today, I made a simple lighttrap out of an old ADIDAS box for the exhaust fan and now the temps are in the higher 70s.... so HELL YEAH!

Heres a picture of that lighttrap I made:

I also went to the Ponic shop again and got some FOX FARM BIG BLOOM(the guy said those were my micronutrients that I needed so I just said fuck it) AND TIGER BLOOM, they gave me a printed feeding chart too so I can get an idea of what to go off :D

heres those:

And now on to the plants.... Well my biggest one has been thrown into the 12/12 cycle, starting on Wednesday, March 31st.
So its her 3rd day into flowering. Not a whole lot but heres a few pics, I can tell that it has grown alot from the GROWBIG I give it and im really impressed so far.

HUMIDITY:24%
TEMPERATURE:79 Degrees

Veves.jpg

Vevestop.jpg

Vevesgrowth.jpg

And here are my other 6.... still in Vegging cycle. 2 of the 6 plants have been topped they are the 2 in the bottom right hand corner in this pic:

Angel and Mandi are doing way better than the others and there leaf shape, node spacing is nice n tight, the others have huge weird looking leaves idk lol :D

heres some pics of those 2.

Well thats about it for now guys but PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE leave me some feedback, negative shit, derogatory shit, SOMETHING TO HELP ME ALONG HERE! Ive been going off instinct so help is deff. needed. I dont give a shit if someone has somethin bad to say just say it!

Thanks and Smoke1...... :bigjoint:

The flowering setup is tight as hell, how much did it cost you to make? Can all the supplies you used be found at Home Depot, I'm considering taking my racks out of my closet and building one of these for my autoflower setup. If so can you give me a shopping list, I LOVE the idea! Your plants are looking good, keep up the good work. If you guys want to check out my baby autos & my closet setup the link is in my signature, i'm looking for ideas for a setup.

Hey man thanks for checkin it out, i'd be more than glad to get you a list.

but it depends on how big you would want your flowering box to be i guess?? if you want the same as mine then this is what I used:

*5 sheets of Elmers foam posterboard (you can get this at wal-mart, Target, Craft stores...I got mine from Target.
*2 4" fans I got from Target also, idk if you have one by you but I was in Wal-mart the other day and I seen they had the same size fans (4") for 6.00 so check there they dont require re-wiring!
*2 powerstrips (wal-mart you get 2 for like 6 bucks)
*Analog timer (got this from wal-mart too like 6 bucks get the grounded one)
*Industrial strength velcro heres a pic of the package from HOM DEPOT

*Duck tape
*oh and the CFLs of course, 6 for now. :blsmoke:

If you got any questions man feel free to hit me up this is my first grow but hey...

WOW that was a fast reply man, what exactly are the dimensions of your styrofoam flower box? For some reason the dimension. That you gave don't exactly look correct. I would like basically the same setup but I would probably do a shelf in the middle of it that could be removable. I would like it to have atleast 2 feet per shelf for the height, so I'm thing maybe 4 1/2 feet tall for room for the pots, I plan to use roughly around six 3 gallon pots, maybe 8 at the max, 4 plants per shelf. Thanks for all your help, how much did the foam postboard cost per sheet?

They are like 2.67/per sheet, and if you were thinking that you need that much room you could just cut a foam sheet in half and attach it to the 20" sheet. (the sheets are 20L"x30Hx1/8thD") so that would give you like 30" by 30" ?

Actually scratch that last post dimensions, I just at measured the size of my 3 gallon pots. They are 10 1/2 inches round so that means with a box 2 feet deep I could fit 2 plants into the box from front to back. Since the pits are 10 1/2 inches wide I would need a box that is atleast 42 inches wide for a tight fit, I would probably go 45 inches to give a little room. For the shelf in the middle, I changed mine mind on that idea, I would prefer to have a 4 foot tall box with a 1 foot tall shelf up top for germ. I figured seeds need heat to germ so why not hook the lights for flowering right under germ station. I will probably draw up some plans or think this project out a little more, if I do decide to build I will share with everyone here.

I topped one my plants last year and they turned a purpleish color. It lookd like that a couple weeks after topping. I think it is focusing more on growing the new tops.
