On a serious note though, I have been in agreement on the whole idea of setting up an even plumbing system all along. If you're doing more than one main cola, that manifold structure is a major benefit.

I still prefer the screens in the cabinet format. Perhaps with my dual-rdwc tent setup I'll try doing one set of plants with screens and one without to get a better gauge on how a pure manifold would play out.

No weed growing to report on, but I do have a veggie garden update. Pic from a week or two ago...

The deer finally found their way around the fishing line fence over the weekend and got in and ate a bunch of stuff. Radishes and lettuce are pretty much gone (although growing more lettuce will be quick), and the apple trees got a major defol... Some ornamental plants got beat up, too (roses and coral bells...)

So, what is an engineer to do?

Well, I bought a bottle of "Da Bomb Beyond Insanity" hot sauce (about 140,000 scovilles). Put it in my hose end sprayer, diluted with some water, and added a bit of agricultural surfactant to help it stick to things. Sprayed down all of our ornamental plants, the apple trees, and any veggie plants that aren't ready to be eaten now.

Some garden damage Saturday morning from deer.
A bunch Sunday.
Sprayed plants Sunday.
If there was damage this morning, we couldn't see it.

Hopefully the deer don't develop a love for spiciness...

Nice garden, i especially like the woods.

I’d be more concerned about success...

Imagine tasting the surviving veggies after a bath in The Bomb Beyond Insanity hot sauce!

I like the woods too! If the local highschool wasn't right beyond those woods this would be a great outdoor grow spot.

Exactly why I didn't spray any leafy greens or anything with fruit already on them - our jalapenos will be spicy enough on their own w/o the insanity sauce.

The deer figured out which plants have been treated and which haven't... next tactic is a motion-activated impact sprinkler to shoot at them when they get near untreated plants... (And continuing to keep the ornamentals spicy!)

My neighbor uses one of those sprinklers for deer. Seems to do ok. Our 2 dogs keep them out for us. Deer won't come near our yard.

I wish my dogs did the trick.

A c4 raccoon seems like a good idea...
"Oh hey, Ms Deer - just your friend the raccoon dropping in for a visit... not a plastic explosive or anything like that..."
