Starting my first grow, Would love advice and tips

Well like it says im starting my first grow, i have done all kinds of research for years on how to grow and the time is finally hear.
But even reading and thinking i know enof, since iv never done it, im sure theirs things ill simpley not know what to do. Thats where this forum comes in, id love as much help as possible getting threw my first grow, and will try and post and udate as much as possible


Well lets start with what i have so far, currently i have 5 plants sprouting, 3 from a stain that a buddy had got, and 2 from just a good bag of . There currently under a flouresnt tube just to get them goin, There all in a premix dirt i made. Heres where my first questiongs comes in, i know that i can leave the light on for 24 hours to get them going, but when should i switch to the 18 on and 6 off? also when they get bigg enof they will be going under a 400w mh, i know hps would be better, but all the lamps i have were free, and all mh, But anyway, also when should i introduce my plants to the 400w bulb?

Well thats all the questions i really have at the moment. Kinda in a hurry tonight But if u have any tipps let me know? and if u can tell i might be forgetting something, let me know? But all help will be appreciated

As soon as they are up you can set the light 24" above and plants to the side of lighting until they get bigger. Leave them on 24/0 if you want then to grow up slow but nice and full. If you want them to stresh a little go 18/6 after the 2-3 week.

I would switch them 18-6 under the mh at 2-3 weeks old. Also your 400w Mh is putting off 90 lumens per watt. 400x90= 36000 lumens, How many of these do you have? and how big is your grow room?

ahh grow room is about 5x4, was gonna do about 6 or so, was also thinking about doin a sog method but just not sure, figured id just get the normal method learned then do that in a future grow. But how many u thinik i should do in that area? and are u saying thats to much light? cuz i have like 3 more 400ws if its not enof. lol But naa Should i grow more than six? or will that be to many? Gonna try and post some pics of the grow room in the morning, Im terrible at explaining things

I donno if I'll have the hiight I'll need, not to top, But dnt know much about the strain so donno. Also how many plnats should I put in a 5x4x6 I'd say with the 400w, I'm looking for a fast grow, but also looking for a large yeild, what should be my plan?

ok so a nine week veg? and if i let them veg that long, how long should i expect the flowering stage to last?

I veg mine for 11 weeks and they started to flower on the 5th day. But at 9 weeks veg they will be mature and ready. Flower time ~ Indicas 8-9 weeks (short fat leafs) Sativa's 10-13 weeks (Long skinny finger leafs)

Do you honestly have room space for something 3x bigger than that?

I have room. This is yesterday, Diesel on right.
That's how us men grow

I have about 4 feet left (up) of grow space. Check out my album this friday or saturday I will update it. They all started flowering on the 5-6th day of 12/12, it will be 14 days tomorrow and they are WAY budding...

In regards to the MH vs Fluro question...

As long as the plant is not exposed to excess heat from the bulp.

You can have it as close as you want.

And the closer , the better , the stronger the better.

Ahh , i grew trees from 60liter coco hydro's

Im now switching to SOG and SCROG for more excitement.

Although the real reason was that my room cant really handle my old beauties :'(

k so u think that will handle six plants? or do i need to scale back? Aslo thats a week from being put in the ground, i just planted mine in my soild and let them grow. No germinating prior

Also the walls will be gettin a fresh white paint job soon ( do i need to move my babies while i paint, i know to cover them from gettin dripped on, but will the fumes affect growth?) Then will be adding the black plastic to close it off

Anyone? should 6 fit? should i do less? more?

Anyone? Also can i smk around my babies? will it hurt them?

Well figured id give an update.

Moving into week 2, i have switched them over to the 400w mh, and turned them to an 18/6 ( was gonna run the 24, for awhile but i did the 18-6 to avoid temp. problems) But i now have 10 lil guys growing ( know thats alot for that space, but figured start with 10, buy the time i go trew errors, and kill the males, i should have enof room to flower whats left) But alls good so far


Also to ansewer my question, Can i smk around these babies? i mean cuz im with them all day, and love watchin em grow
And i have a ballast question, Since my ballast and the light are seperate. Can i extand the wire connectiong the 2, without a problem? trying to extand it so i can have the ballast out of the grow room
