Square vs. Round Pots

yes strange isnt it? back then Ive been looking for some info on growing so joined a number of growforums...
then there was so much work to do for 2 summers outdoor growing in treehide-style up in the mountains... thats been crazy...

then I realized the other forums arent worth it.... eg on grower.ch if you do a thread on vertical scrogging theyll delete it LOL or if you use mineralic fertilizer youre evil etc

RIU is much better, more international, tolerant, pluralistic, generally better info esp. due to the legalization.

maybe its the german/swiss conservative mentality... lack of empathy, alot of greed, envy & hatred. always this nonsense rivalry...
I rather go by "live and let live", but with a focused attitude towards scientific knowledge.

Best for me would be to leave Europe and settle for the New World to grow cannabis legally but I dont think I would be granted the rights to so (due to past crimes involving hard drugs, mostly smuggling cocaine from Rotterdam). I was batshit insane back then XD but it was exciting and the night was my friend...

There's always Mexico. New World. Legalizing marijuana. Nice outdoor growing season.

I saw no pros or cons regarding Root binding, air oxygen, or watering in this thread. Does anybody know if one is better than the other for these things? It seemed to me also that the square would be better for the footprint.
Sorry for the non-specific question at first

Just best to remember when vegging plants overtime it's better to keep upsizing their environment to prevent the encumbering growth. Little bittie starter, then a wee bigger, maybe again and then bloom that root mass.....

I'm in the fabric pot camp over either round or square rigid pots.

With fabric you don't have to worry about root bound, they breath and prune the roots as they grow from the pots.

Here is an example of rigid pots, This is just prior to transplant into 2 gallon Smart (fabric) pots. Root bind in both round and square rigid pots. If I had left these for another week they would begin circling the cup.

I picked up a bunch of square 4 gallon plastic buckets from LA seniorita restaurant in michigan. They fit perfect to fill a 1 foot square area in a tent.

Fabric pots will still get root bound just not in the same way as a plastic pot. They also make square fabric pots for anyone who cares.

I have been using Smart pots for years now with coco and have never had a issue. After the grows when removing the root ball from the smart pots there is no sign of root bound at all. The main reason I like the fabric is the breathing factor, the O2 levels stay fairly consistent through the root zone.
