sprouting taking forever - first grow

yeah im doing my first grow right now and got nothing popped after 6 days of planting into a cup after germinating. i think this is mostly due to im in an apartment and struggling with money so i dont put the heat above like 66 or so. if i stuck a space heater in there would it work to help them sprout faster and also wwould this dry out the air too much and negatively afect my grow?

Around 80 dg is optimal but the problem could be old seeds, poor medium, or watering problems( too dry, too wet).

Also it helps if he soils is loosly packed. Maybe add some vermiculite and sand/peralite. to help make it fluffy.

give it time how deep did you plant southtexas said he had some afghan sprout in 36 degree weather volunteer

I have always found mj to grow vigorously, even at less than optimal conditions so if the soil is good and it has stayed moist but not flooded I would assume it was bad seeds.

Unless the young root tips were damaged during planting or were killed by microbes in the soil. Maybe try different seeds and try steralizing the soil in the oven at like 200deg untill it steams.

aight yeah i was thinking about using MG Moisture Control for next grow but i might transplant if i still have nothing in like another week or 2

Carefull w/ MG products though. The MG potting soil burned up a few of my seedlings once. I think to much ferts in the enriched siols for my baby plants.

Maybe try a low fert seed starter mix or just 50/50 peralite/vermiculite sioless mix. the latter has almost no chance of harmfull microbes like root rot and it's easy to tell when it needs watered.

depends also on how far u put em in the soil... a heating pad helps too not too expensive just get an aquarium heating pad and run it on low low. I put plastic wrap over the tops too so they retain moisture some ppl do some dont...helps me so I do. I have had a few that took 6-8 days to break ground though... then have been impatient on others and lightly dug around the soil to see if I could find a tap root....had one go upside down on me so I dug it up and re planted....stunted the growth for the 1st 3-4 weeks but it recovered nicley and ended up having a thicker stem than any of the others....hell Ive even broke part of the tap root off before while digging then regermed and re planted...still worked.

you will have better results if you germinate ina paper towel in a plastic bag. leave it in a sunny window or near the water heater. little sprouts make take as much as say as 10 days to come up. i give up on a seed if it doesn't germinate in 4 days and doesn't break the soil by day 10:weed:

i had an order from dr. cronic come in and the post office ran them through some kind of sorter that crushed all my seeds ,they looked good until you gently squeezed them and they would break open

well i had already germinated them and i got 2 plants with one in soil for like a week now and the other 2 days. I just took a normal heating pad i already had and placed it under the solo cups on a low setting. is this sufficient enough?

I would be very cautions using a heating blanket or heating pad other than one specified around water. Due to obvious reasons such as electrical fires, which is why I suggested an aquarium heating pad. I dont want to give advice on using anything other than that or a root pad cause I would feel like shyt if someones house burt down.... anyway heat will work at the bottom of your containers to speed up the process.

i got some heating pads from wal mart fer 15 bux. they are designed to be wrapped in a wet towel and have a automatic turn off

yeah the heating pad i have is designed as one of those wet/dry ones so i think i will be all set not burning anything down but thanks for the forewarning. yeah my only problem with the one i have right now is that it only stays on continuously for an hour so i have to go in every hour or so to turn it back on and im at work most of the day
