Spider farmer sf1000d dimmer question

So I just read through this thread. Am I understanding that the new SF 1000 isn't dimmable? I've got the first generation with the meanwell driver that requires you to remove the driver mounting bolts to access the dimmer port on the bottle of the driver. It's not great for access but it is a dimmer.

Here's a reply from spiderfarmer on amazon stating the lm301d diodes, first reply. The regular sf series are the better light. Also the d doesnt have meanwell drivers.
Thanks. I feel like it's kinda shady to keep that info out of the ad. How do they get the advertised efficiency then?.....lol

The d series is just a cheaper version of the regular ones with a regular old driver and the lm301d diodes. The one you have is the older style the newer ones do have a dimmer switch mounted ontop of the heat sink can still buy them aswell.

If you select sizes it shows both the sf1000 and the sf1000d

Is the d series on the SF website? I looked but must of missed it if it is there.

I emailed SF a while ago about this. The SF1000d is meant as a beginner model. 301d diodes, non Meanwell driver and no dimming option. On the bright side (so to speak) it is only 100 watt light so really not much need for a dimmer. In Canada they are $149 for D model and $220 for regular. To be honest I doubt dimming such a low power light will have much advantage too it anyway. The bigger ones sure. My HLG is vegging plants right now at 50% so 300 actual watts, it would take 3 of these running at full power to match it so I cannot see much use for the dimmer function on this particular light anyway.

That is pretty cheap.. Are the boards the same as the dimmable model? I'm guessing not..

Im sure it's fine just remember its cheaper for a reason. Not having a dimmer really sucks unless you have lots of vertical space

They really should advertise as a beginner model though. But I guess if I had done a lil more research, I would've known... thanks for the legwork guys! I appreciate ya!

How far above the canopy are you running at 300 watts?

Second this though depends on strains for me
Yes, they can all have their own needs. The 4 I am running now are 2 Shiva Skunk and 2 Maui Waui. Both a first for me. Ran into an issue with the light and it turned out I was under feeding them. Started getting yellow tips on one of them but it is under control now. I am accustomed to feeding 50% of what GH trio feeding schedule states, now I am feeding them more than the max on the feed chart but they seem happy. So it appears this light really does make the plants eat more. Here is a pic from yesterday.
