All depends on how you utilize the space, and what type of setup you use.
I have the exact same space as you, and what I have done is split the space in two. One side veg and the other for flowering. I started with a drip system in the veg side, but to many problems with over watering the rockwool . so now Both sides I use an Ebb n flow setup with 400 MH and 400 HPS.

im using soil, im growing from seed to harvest. i plan on starting a veg cab when my funds get a little better. so my idea was to grow 3-4 big 4 cola monsters until i have a veg cab then i will do a SOG. i want to try to get them about 3ft before i started flowering. im new at this so let me now if its a bad idea

Just keep in mind that once you go into flower, the plants will at least double in size, and could almost triple with some strains. So I would say vegging to 3' could deffinitly be a problem. you need to Take into account the space that your reflector will take up as well. Also with that large of a plant, your not going to get much light penitrating through the canopy, so any bud at all below will be next to nothing.

this is why i need this site , so what can you recommend i do to max my yield? would six smaller plants say about a foot tall and topping them to get 2 or 4 colas sound like a better idea? And if i add the set of lights underneath would it help at all? i plan on using cfl's the whole way. im going to invest in a 250 hps down the road for flowering.

If your planning on going from seed to harvest , you would be so much better off with a 600 HPS for that space. Much better yeild of larger denser buds. If your going with the cfls you need to figure out the lumens per sq ft. You have 5'x2'=10 sq ft. Optimal is 7,000 to 7,500 or higher lumens per square foot. If you figure by watts a minimum of 150 W per square foot for fluorescent's or cfls. It probably would'nt be practical with the amount of cfls you would need for that space. Check out craigslist and Ebay for a good cheap HID setup. Once you have your lighting figured out, I would suggest a SOG or Scrog setup with several smaller plants.

the only problem is i dont know how i can vent the heat a hid offers. i guess i could cut a 4in hole in the roof and vent it to my attic . i wanted to try to stay as cheap as possible. im seeing now that i would just be better off using cfl in veg and finding a 250-400w hps for flowering. its such a small space i dont know what size fan to use or how long to run the fan to keep the temps right.

Seriously what I would suggest is slowly build your room as finances are available. Start with splitting the space in half, and start your first grow in the 2'-1/2'x2' area. For that space a 400 HPS would work great. You could have a nice little scrog with decent yield. as funds become available, pick up a 400 MH for the other space, and make that your veg room. This way you can keep a nice little perpetual grow going.
If your interested in going that way, pick up a decent size in line fan that you know will cool both reflectors. Personally I use a 465 cfm for the reflectors, and a 530 cfm to ventilate both rooms. The 530 cost me $90 shipped.
What you would need to do is cut a 6" hole in the top corner of one of the rooms, running the ducting through the reflector, or reflectors up through the attic and out a vent. You will also need some kind of passive air intake to pull cool air from outside the grow space.
It's not a cheap hobby, but with the proper equipment, it makes it much more efficient.

thanks for the advice ill have to research some lights and my dad has been doing hvac work for 20+ years and hes hooking me up with some free fans and duct work. my laundry room is next to my closet and it has a ac vent in it so im going to re-route it to my closet so i have filtered fresh air entering and im building a diy carbon filter for exaust. tell me if this all sounds good. as for seperating the room it has a small door on it unlike yours. ill have to take some pics to show you. the only way i could sepate it would be top and bottom and that might work.

The filtered fresh air is always a good thing, so are the freebys from pop. Posting a couple of pics would be great.

well here are some pics they suck cause its hard to take pics of it but the closet goes to the left like 3ft you just cant see it. just think of your closet but with my door offset to the right (if that makes any sense to you.) but its easy acess to my attic my laundry room is to the right and the closet just screams stealth i plan on hanging a rug over the door.

It looks like it could be kind of difficult to utilize the entire closet. If you had plants in the right side, you would have no way to access the plants to the left. I can't really visulize how you could do an over under eather. Maybe just use the space to the left of the door frame? That would give you about a 3'x2' grow space using one 400 hps . I guess you could possibly still split that space by hanging a piece of panda film, then hang a handfull of cfls or a couple of 2' florecents for a veg area. the biggest problem would be having to move the vegging plants every time you need access to the flower room. You could do it but, what a pain in the ass.
I'll give it some more thought. let me know what ideas you have.

panda film? what my idea is to get a metal storage cabinet and put it in my laundry room and make it my mother, clone, and veg cabinet. i just need to know about how tall do u keep mothers? or i could just clone my veging clones so i wouldnt need mothers. i would use cfls in the whole cabinet and use the closet for flowering with a 400 hps. that is the cheapest and easiest way for me to have two spaces. i think it would be worth it. Any advice on a bean supplier? im going to go ahead and order my beans and save my cash and build the two spaces. :weed:

Panda film is that thick plastic sheeting. black on one side and white on the other.
If your going to keep mothers just trim and top to what ever size you like. Mothers are nice because you will allways know your clones are female. You can always take the clones from the vegging plants as long as you know they are female, but if you start with regular un fiminized seeds, you won't know until you start getting pre flowers.

The cabinet idea sounds great. Much cleaner and efficient.

Personely I like www.worldwide-marijuana-seeds.com . Never had a problem with these guys. Great selection, and you can buy single feminized seeds. A lot of guys like the attitude seed bank, but I'v heard good and bad.
