Some help from some1 else in the UK

I’m in the Uk and if I go to any shop, that deals with lighting, or shops like homebase and gardening centers, I’ll ask them if they sell CFL setups or CFL bulb's, and they look at me like wtf are u talking about dude. So if there’s any Uk CFL grower on this forum, is there a different name for CFL's here in the UK? And which shops I could buy it in, since most people in this forum are from the US and mention shops I’ve never heard of, Thanks

Energy saver bulb, you will find them in homebase,b&q,wickes, i even picked up a bunch in a small tesco store, i just grabbed 6 of the highest wattage bulb they had and they are growing the chilli from seed very well. I did have to buy 6 lamp fittings and I also had to mount them on something so i took a piece of ally tread plate, drilled 6 holes for the light fittings wired them in with rcd and appropriate fuse and..... job done.

im sure someone will be along soon advising better on what bulb in terms of light spectrum but i just grabbed any old one and they seem to work.

edit.......... something like this is the bulb you need to keep an eye out for

Thanks barbus, yh i've seen these bulbs before, but i looked at the packing and it never sed cfl, so i fort it was the wrong ones, but thanks i know what im looking for now, how many watts are the one's you bought and how much did they cost, so i can know how much im looking to spend. Thanks again barbus

Barbus, i cant find any bulbs which are over 18watts, and i've searched argos.co.uk, homebase.co.uk, currys.co.uk, and also wickes.co.uk. Where could i find 43watt cfl(Energy saver bulbs) then? And what bulbs did u buy and where and how much where they? Thanks

i have the same problem, im uk, and we have no high wattage cfl's here, highest ive seen is 20w which is pants tbh, it sucks, there must be someone who can help

Well, it’s always cooler when u just go to the shop and buy it and take it straight away, like that we ain’t gotta pay no delivery, and also we aint gotta wait like 1 week for the bulbs to get to your house, and then if we get the wrong ones we have a big headache ^^. But yh same problem with me I only found 20watt energy savers (CFL), and yep that dose suck, so I’m still searching but no success yet. Would be cool if some1 in the UK could drop some info.

Hi, sorry I didn't get back to you sooner, been away from the pc for the weekend. The bulbs I picked up in tesco were 20w energy saver/cfl bulb 2700k warm white. Can't remember how much they were but they wouldn't of been that expensive else i wouldn't of bought them (im a bit tight you see) i do think they were less than a pound each though.

from what I have read 6500k bulb or thereabouts is for veg and 3000k for flower?? I wouldn't take my words as gospel though.

the six 20w 2500k bulbs seem to grow quiet well in veg, certainly very comparable to 400w hps i used in veg once, saying that i think if i put hps closer results would of been better, the cfls were about an inch away when i use them.
