Soma seeds/strain experience?

Hello and thanks for viewing.

I've now discovered that there's very little information on most of Somas strains after searching every combination of key words, whilst only NYC Diesel and Lavender absorb all of the interest. Though most of his strains have closely related genetics, many sound the perfect combinations for what I want, a calm & creative/inspiring head high without a racing heart. I already have Satori and MasterKush ready to plant from previous advice and plan on buying Kushage & a Flo or Blue cross for the next round.

If you have any past or present experience with anything Soma (apart from the two common strains) then please reply with your findings so hopefully we will have a good Soma resource. I would love to know growth notes, phenotypic variation, strength of odour, details of high and anything else you may wish to add.

Cheers all, Wild

Particularly interested in:
Somango/ Soma #5
Citralah (the only report i've found said it's the best ever tasting bud)
the Buddha family
Kahuna
Somativa

Glad to hear. I hear it's fruity with a savoury side and leaves should turn near black! If you were in the UK, I would have gladly assisted in pinpointing the flavour :-P

Best of luck and don't be afraid to let us know the results.

I'm growing the Amnesia Haze now (here: https://www.rollitup.org/grow-journals/296010-amsterdam-run.html), tried it in Amsterdam, and I thought it was really top notch. Bought a five-pack feminized from Soma personally at the Cannabis Cup, and though I was a bit skeptical whether to buy these or regular, he vouched for them. Well, two turned out to be hermie's, got two left. They are now 28 days into 12/12, still a long way to go, but fingers are crossed. He's got a lot of cred in Europe, but my impression is that the Americans (and Canadians, let's not forget!) are a bit more lukewarm. His NYCD (though I haven't tried it) is supposedly far off the real deal. But, all in all, sure, he's got some interesting stuff...

Cheers Pompel, unfortunate that you had hermies, I still don't trust any feminized seeds. I look forward to your grow results and the Amnesia sure sounds a quality plant.
I will be buying some Citralah as a standard indica choice for future grows (as well as a Cannabiogen SandStorm).

Anybody have any more to say on Soma Seeds?

my buddy grew his nycd,it took for ever had about 4 phenoes and for how long they took were not very good,to make along story short for such expencive genetics they were never saved, not one keeper and they cost over $200 but that was a few years back.would never by soma again.

A harsh and expensive grow, sorry to hear that. In general, no matter which seed company, I won't buy strains named after those that are famous in the Americas, as I always imagine they're the most costly and the least original/ successful. For this reason I don't fully trust Somas G13 cut, but i've heard he does have the real deal of that. I imagine his original series of genetics (Korean Skunk, Landraces, Jack Herer etc) are all decent and the new, demanded types (Widow/Diesel) maybe not.

As for NYCD, i've heard of afew very good grows, but many of inferior quality, perhaps the one true pheno is a rare find.

Anyone else sampled Soma stock?

I see that the thread is 12 years old, but I didn't find any other thread that is mentioning SomaSeeds so I will write in here. Lately, I tried several SomaStrains. They had rebranding I would say close to 2 years ago. Out of 20 seeds, all of them sprouted. Except that, they have all in one DIY organic line of Soil and Organic compost tea. I am using both of them also. Soma is a really nice old man. I have sent an email to them and there is an option to arrange a smoke with Soma :) He is 78 years old, but energy of a 25-year-old man. They also have discord and Telegram group where you can contact all of them from the team directly about anything.

Some of the strains I had

I would seriously give both my nuts to get a hold of some of Soma's old super skunk, that shit was the most amazing weed ever! Super bright like green with bright orange hairs. One hit of that and you nearly green out bongsmilie

I grew out some of Soma's RockBud several years ago. Results were very good. There was a special at Attitude on packs of Soma Salad (now sold out), a mix of feminized seeds. I snapped it up and will try it out next year. Used to be Soma only did regular seeds and only did organic soil grows, that's when I started to follow him. I hear he's doing other grow methods now. He is a very reputable old-timer.
