Soil vs. Aeroponics

I had a couple of extra AK47 clones hanging around so I decided to run a test between soil and Aero. I'll keep you posted during the progress.

The lowdown:

Closet grow with 2 - 1000W HPS lights. Sealed room with CO2 @ 1500 PPM.

Soil: I used Fox Farm organic soil with added pearlite. I put a layer of Hydroton on the bottom and then a screen to keep the soil from running through.

I run a PVC pipe in each corner to let air circulate down to the Hydroton pellets and roots.

I use the same organic formula for nutrients as I do in my Aero system.

Aero: My standard cloner, veg and Aero/NFT system. Organic nutrients. Cycle timer set to 1 minute on and 5 minutes off.

I started the soil plants this last Summer. I let them grow to about 18" tall before taking them into the flower room.

The aero plant went directly from my aero cloner to flower with no veg time. It was about 4" high when I put it in my flower system. Normally I would veg the plant another 3 weeks.

The test plant on the right (in the photo) is the same strain as the soil plants.

I included a photo of the Aero plant after is had been in system a week and another photo of the aero plant in the cloner so you can see how big it was when it went into the flower room.

After harvest I will grab some buddies and do a blind taste test.

Keep checking back and watch the progress...
