"soil" versus "hydro" roots? Are they different?

I recently transplanted a plant that was at the end of its second veg week in a 5 gallon fabric pot, to a 5 gallon bucket system to keep it as a mother plant. She did okay, she started really not doing okay, then she bounced back, all in all it took about a week. I am seeing new roots growing in the top of the root section.

I have read/heard that roots which grow to seek out nutrients in soil function differently and are to some extent "different" than roots that grow to seek out nutrients in hydro. Is there any truth to this? Are these white new roots shooting out because the environment is different, and is the plant going to eventually let the rest of the roots die off?

Before I get absolutely flamed, lets for the sake of argument say there isn't root rot going on, cultivation nation nutrients stain dark blue and I hate it but it's what I'm using for now.

Interesting …. Tried to see what the hell that indigo blue / tidy bowl color was from …. Pulled msds and got stupid trade secret bs.

Was there anything you added to mix / rez ?

I'm past being worried about the color, my main concern is I might miss some algae growth in early stages because of it but if anything it just makes me more vigilant to stay ahead of it. The only other things in the res are some cal mag, hydroguard, and a lil PH down

This is what happened in my flowering tent when I switched from fox farms old series (died em brown instead) to the cultivation nation. It's worth noting that in these photos (not the original one asking about riots) I'm running a bit more than suggested, about 1.5x dose.
