soil ph

so i've seen a lot of different people say what Ph should be for potting soil, but they're all different. I'm using currently using a very cheap potting soil, and I've seen people say anywhere from 5.8 to 7.6.... what is the actual range that my soil should be in to prevent nute lockout? i was way out of range earlier then i flushed w/ 6.4 to try to get back into a healthy range. how long should i expect before i see results?

When you flush, collect the water that comes out the bottom of the soil..this will give you your soils PH.

low 6's

If you grow organic in soil, you don't have to mess with ph at all.
User, you mentioned this (or close to it) in another thread.
I'm interested.

Is FF organic? Soil? Soil nutes? When I added the FF nutes to my water, my pH went nuts.
If FF is organic, and it did that to the pH, you saying don't worry about it? Or that organic doesn't screw with pH?

I like to keep soil at about 6.5 or so, but if you have a soiless mix and you are using hydro nutrients its ok to go lower, like 5.5 or 6.0. The soiless mix i am using now gives directions. The bag says to keep it between 5.5 and 6.5. Try not to let it get too acidic cause you end up with more males. Also, if it is too high or too low it can lock out certain nutes.

Im using earth juice nutes and fox farm soil for my organic grows and for some reason earth juice lowers your ph alot , i have to add ph up to all my earh juice mixes to keep PH in healthy limits! I keep mine around 6.0-6.5

i dont think you can disgard ur PH level even when using all organics and soil.

ya i am using soilless mix right now and my PH is about 6.5-6.0

and a plants sex is determined by the seed not outside forces.

the only time outside forces can influence sex is with fem seeds or Hermie seeds that could be fem or Hermie.

males are just luck based

i STRONGLY disagree with this statement. if stress is introduced in the first month of a seedlings life it is easy to turn a seedling male or herm
