Soil or Hydro?

How's the SOG workin for ya? Did your babies germinate? Remember they can take up to 2 weeks to germ so don't get discouraged.
Well, I actually haven't built my SoG yet, for lack of funding. Right now I'm just growing in/with what I have on hand. Next tuesday I'll be buying a 400w HPS/MH rig and I'll be able to do something.

I regermed last night and I'm planting the new ones tonight. It's bag seed, so not expecting much. I'm waiting to buy good seeds til I know what I'm doing.

I'm excited about it though, price keeps rising unfortunately D:

I'm still trying to understand the scrog method, I understand you use a screen or net and your buds go through it but what is the goal? And do you remove lower branching so your plant directs it's energy to the top colas.
The fence I use has 2in X 4in holes, hog wire.Every bud grows to the same size.It makes a Jungle like canopy of buds.

Why SCROG over simply lollipopping? Does the SCROG just put all the tops of the plants really close together, utilizing light more effiicently? Is this only effective with a bunch of plants or could a few benefit from it?

If you have a Dyna-Gro retailer by you check them out for nutes! 1 part grow, 1 part bloom, and Pro TekT rocks for scilica! They all run you about $20 a bottle and will last.
I bought AN Earth Tea and Bloom and they are sitting on the shelf ever since I bought my Dyna-Gro (:

Thanks for the input bro, nd btw nice grow! That hawaiian snow is lookin good! Did u add any cfl's? Cause ur son agro looks like it lacks in the blue spectrum a little, well it is a hps :P
I heard the combination of MH nd hps at the same time through both cycles will make for some killer buds.
No I didn't add any due to limited budget but I am doing this next grow I'll be starting in a couple of weeks. I'll be using 2x600W HPS in Adust A Wing reflectors and 1x400W MH vertically mounted in between the plants, all together for flowering and expecting to see some good results this time. Also got digital ballasts, better exhaust, improved soil and better nutrients. Will be growing Pineapple Express and AK-48 in 7 gallon pots so I'm hoping to create some monsters this time around! :D

What kind of yields did you get with dyna-gro? My local hydro shop sells that stuff but I've never checked it out

Just get fox farm soil and fox farm nutrients. You can use hydro grow big in soil, but you aren't supposed to use regular grow big in hydro. Tiger bloom works in both. Get MicrobeBrew instead of Big Bloom, it has the same ingredients +beneficials organisms. Fox Farm might have high salts period, that's why they recommend using their flushing solution, sledge hammer, every few weeks. But generally hydro nutrients are safe in soil, That's why tiger bloom only comes in one formula.

Gonna be my 1st grow and was leaning toward a soil grow probably use FF soil. But have heard many good things about hydro, what do you guys think is the yield worth it in hydro or can I grow in soil and produce (close) same amount of bud? Gonna be growin under a 600w lumatek ballast and ac hood (radiant) MH for veg nd HPS for flowering. Opinions?
This is almost like asking which is better, a ford pickup or a chevy pickup in a red necked bar full of drunks.
Myself, I like 100% Coco coire running a drip system that is drain to waste. With CYCO brand nutrients!!!! This stuff works great in COCO at 1/3 the price of Advanced Nutrients. The owner of Cyco is one of the X-research scientist for A.N.

GO COCO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:eyesmoke:

I agree with above stoner.. you have to weigh the plus and minuses of each and how they apply to your grow. Its really not which one is better they both work well, but how you want to deal with it. Soil for sure is the easiest of the two to grow for first timers. Hydro is better for yields, small places but you need to consider alot of things with hydro. PH, PPM, Temps etc. I like hydro because I see better yields now that I have got each of my aspects under control. I use StinkBud Aero/Hydro and it works well for me and my room.
