You must be about the 50th person that is going to do it exactly the same as Al B Fuct, but different. At least you are not trying to convince him to use soil. lol
Al's table are 2'7" square, he put 23 plants in the and has one 1000watt light with a special batwing reflector for each set of 2 table. He recently added cool tubes to those lights. You are talking about having a table almost as big of two of his tables and lighting it with a 400 watt light. Sounds exactly the same to me. Maybe you just missed the part were he corrected the size of the tables, a simple error of conversion from metrics to US. He has apoligized for the error.

A 4' by4' table would hold 36 plants in 8" pots, the size Al uses, and with the clay pellets instead of the flock rockwool and fotocell Al uses, you had better plan a big reservoir. You will need to flood that puppy a lot more than the once a day Al does, clay pellet don't hold the water the same as rock wool.
The light you are planning will not be adequate to match Al's operation??, Exactly. VV:blsmoke:

Thanks for the advice m8 i was thinking of getting 4 1000watt lights and just useing the 400 for my mother room as it is a hps/mh light so you say no more than 36 per table and a big reservoir what size do you think cause i have bought 4x 60gal will this be enough or do you think i should change my medium to suite

Uses the Rollitup profile
The easy way to figure lighting requirements is by using approx. 50 watts of light per square foot of area. Your 4x4 bed would be nicely lighted with 800 watts.

No, I am not saying 36 is the maximum you can put in there, I have seen pictures of very successful grow @ 4/ sq.ft. 36 8" pots will fit easily.
Here is my take on reses. The cheap ones will not hold up to the pressure of a few cubic feet of water. If you bought 4-60 gallon hydro reservoirs go for it. If you didn't figure a way to support them along the sides and maybe from side to side across the top as well.
Not to go backwards here, I hope you have planned the entire physical plant for this first. Maybe you posted it and I just missed it. I have as much money invested in that as in the lights. VV

yea i am still in the planing but its going to be done in a spare room and i am getting the 4 tables as a complete setup from a hydro store so the res will be the proper thing i wont be rushing into things cause i havent done hydro befor so it will be all new to me so i am make sure i ask loads of Q and im checking as many hydro grows as i can to get the full ins and outs and when im doing the research i will be getting all the stuff 2gether
