So I love all the gardens, what about the dogs that guard them?

thats what you tell a landlord and youll never have a problem getting a pit into an apartment or house... "yeah, i have a dog. oh its an american staffordshire terrier."
unfortunatly.."pit bull" is used to classify a bunch of breeds. i personaly tried the amstaff route..only to be met with..."isnt that just another name for a pit bull?", i could have gone on about the differences in the 2 breeds but didnt.
mine is actualy dual registerd..with the ukc as a apbt, and with the akc as an amstaff. obviously there is also the adba which is solely for apbt.
there is no breed specific legislation in my hood, but its happening everyday accross the states because these dogs are in the wrong hands...there are no bad dogs, just bad owners..lee barret, barrets bull pen.

they ARE bad dogs unless trained by good owners.

lets be honest.

let one loose in the wild and see how friendly it turns out. ;)

i disagree, back in the day when dogfights were legal, if a dog turned and nipped a reff, or owner/handler, they were put down immiedatly to cull less desirable traits. also at the begining of the match a coin was flipped, if i won the toss i would get to choose to wash your dog or scratch first. this required a stable temperment. washing of other dogs insured no chemicals were used to harm the opponents dog. dangerous dogs to other animals yes...its what the breed was breed for..dangerous to humans should meet a swift death to keep the original traits alive in a misunderstood breed just like the olden days. any dog is dangerous in the wrong hands..een a poodle can turn killer.

Any animal can snap on a human. Dog are hunters by nature and can never be fully trusted no matter how long you may have owned them. Some are more likely than others, it's genetics, like MJ. At some point in many dogs lives there ability to control there animal instincts can decline. That's when people get hurt.

this is why you study lines and do your homework before purchase, as well as purchase from a reputable breeder.

I agree^ They will be savage if left to their own devices/unowned or untrained by a good owner. If it were legal I'd keep a puma to guard my crop. Hell, I have two pits and even they don't fuck with cats. Cats are beasts to be reckoned with man.

Any thread where I can give props to my girls watching the fems is okay with me. They're not much more than an audible threat, but they'll love you to death!

nah, it takes a lot of beating to make pits mean. I know. I've seen so many nice ones get the shit beat out of them by tweakers and redneck growers out here. there are some that are little bastards from birth and seem mean but not nearly as many as I seen in pomeranians or chiuawuahs or something. unfortunatly the majority of people who own pits are shitty owners but it's in their nature to attack other animals, not people. german shepards and doberman pinchers are more bred for that. and even most of them are mad.

If my dog was raised in the wild he would of died a long time ago cause he is a helpless lovable dork.

Not trying to be argumentative or anything though. I respect you a lot and have learned a lot from you on these boards FDD! just love dogs, cats and animal's in general and hate when any get a bad rap..

anyways my dog odie re-injured his back right leg that he's already had two surgerys on. it really sucks cause I doubt the vet can even do anything for him when I take him into tomorrow. hopefully he doesnt have to be a tripod...
