Slow growth and drooping leaves in bubbleponic system

I've fixed the problem now, I took out the pump and feeder tubes and raised the water level so that the bubbles were splashing on the bottom of the netcups, i.e. i just turned it into a simple dwc.

I also add some rhizotonic and superthrive, as my tap water ec is so low and my cal mag hasn't arrived yet, they could well have provided the necessary trace elements that the plants needed to grow.

Since doing this the plants have taken off and are looking really healthy.

So, what setup are you using? What is the ec of the water you are using?
 
I got a 20lt bucket with a small pump and a shit load of air I'll take a pic tomorrow and post it here maybe you can see where my mistake is
also do you think the color of the bucket makes that much difference to the rooting pace
also what height do you keep your water and is your container airtight

If the bucket is a light color it most likely will let light in, and light in ur res = alge and slow root growth. What i do with ALL of my containers that hold any water or nutrient solution is put foil tape on it so absolutely no ligh gets in. Other than that a dark bucket might abosb a little energy and warm ur res a tad but thats about it

taking a picture and providing some more details would be good

you want the bucket lightproof, so any dark colour is prefereable. i taped over my rez with aluminum tape as this helps to keep the heat down as well as stopping light getting in.

are you using dwc or bubbleponics? I assume dwc, so you want the water level at such a height that the bubbles breaking on the surface are splashing the bottom of the netcups. The water is then wicked up to the rootzone via the rockwool n hydroton. As soon as the roots grow down into the rez, you want a inch or two air gap between the netcups and the water level, to allow the roots to breathe.

Yep was pretty crazy, the rain squashed a lot of my tomato plants(not a euphemism) and was flashing so much at one stage I was wondering if lightening could act like a light leak:P

no worries man.

on update on mine, removing the feeder tubes and adding some rhizotonic and superthrive has definitely helped, though they are still growing very slowly. I hope that this is due to the low ec of my tap water (0.05 = 25ppm), as it does thus not contain enough trace elements for the plants.

So i've ordered some sensi cal mg mix which will hopefully be here at the start of next week. Fingers crossed it'll work!

good news, switching to dwc has solved my problem. somehow my plants were being overwatered in bubbleponics, despite the fact i have loads of bubbles + the manifold was set to its lowest setting =S. weird indeed. Plants are exploding now, is a pleasure to watch =D
