Slinger's 300 watt LED grow, Purple Cadillac and Grand AK

Thoughts:

I feel like maybe I vegged 2 weeks to long with the space that I have, the Grand AK is so bushy and has a lot of undergrowth even though I was constantly removing it and I don't think the LED is penetrating enough for how much vegetation there is. I would like to go in and remove some of the undergrowth but I feel like its a little too late and it might shock my girl and delay flowering time. My main concern is that my buds are gonna get so large that they will be touching each other and that I might get a mold issue. My humidity stays around 30 during light hours and 60 or below during dark hours so that is a good thing but I dunno, maybe I need to add an extra fan to keep air moving through the plants. The girls are already forming the beginnings of flowers. I cant LST anymore because they have reached the maximum width of the tent and the stalks are starting to harden. Any advice/ideas welcome, gonna do some research on when exactly is too late to remove undergrowth.

Quick update:

I trimmed a lot of undergrowth out but you can barely tell a difference in the bushiness of the plant, just more light is getting down through and hopefully I have gotten rid of most of those fuzzball baby buds, I know we are gonna keep stretching for a little bit more that is it for trimming, now for the watch, water and wait period, should be simple as long as I keep my nutes right. The only addition I need to make is the 440 CFM exhaust fan with a Carbon Filter, gonna cost about 150 but thats ok, my next grow should be so cheap!bongsmilie.

looks like your doing a good job i was contemplating the leds and you are making me want to try it great job
Thanks man! Its an interesting lighting that has a lot of possibilities, I'm still working on dialing in the the best distance from the canopy! On another note I have noticed that the Grand AK does not like nutrients very much but the Purple Cadillac does, so far I have been feeding both plants the same thing but I am gonna water with just plain ph'd water for the next few on the Grand AK, the Purple Cadillac will receive nutrients every other watering! thanks for checking in!

Week 2 Day 1 of 12/12

Took a few pictures for you guys today. Girls are doing nicely, soil is still moist from the last watering so I am gonna wait a day or two longer to water again. I wanted to start the actual 8 weeks til supposed finish time with both plants on the same day but I have to give it to the Grand AK, definitely started, 8 weeks from today is April 5th*. The Purple Cadillac is running a little behind but I am ok with that.I feel that I need some kind of supplemental lighting for the sides, I wanna put it slightly below the canopy to push light into the inside of the plant. Thoughts? I can get some 85 watt 2700k CFL's and throw them in there for like 15 bucks a piece. Attach them to the 4 corner posts of the grow tent, just slightly above the level of the top of the pots? Would it be worth the extra 60$ id have to spend? I like LED but the lack of light penetration is annoying!
Anyways here are the girls!

Week 2 Day 2

Watered both plants with:

1 Gallon Crystal Geyser Spring Water (Ph'ed to 6.6)
2 tsp of Cal-Mag Plus

Added a little extra Cal-Mag Plus to the water this time, they say that the plants really need the Calcium and Magnesium During the first few weeks of flower and its not gonna hurt the plants so I am testing it out. The Purple Cadillac finally started forming those bud tops so I am gonna say its about 2 days behind the Grand AK. That's all for now, happy growing RIU!

Day 10 of 12/ (I realized that the other way i was posting time frame was confusing)

Took some pictures of the girls today, just more pistils, no sign of frosty goodness yet but that's not unexpected I am just too excited. Hoping to get the digital camera back soon so you guys can get a better look at what I am seeing. Woke up to the smell of light skunky/fruitiness. Ordering the 440 CFM 6 in exhaust fan with Carbon filter this coming Friday, it should arrive right on time for the major odors to start being produced! Enjoy guys, I hope these next few weeks fly by! I also raised the lights up from 7 inches over the canopy to about 10, trying to find the perfect height for an even spread of light intensity!

I am using 5 gallon containers, a 17 gallon would be fucking massive for me, I envy you guys that get to grow outside, the downside of living in an apartment but at least I am close to the city! heres a little baby bud shot for you guys. I know we got some clawing going on thus my reason for cutting out the nutes completely with this girl for the next 2 weeks, I an even cutting out the Cal-Mag Plus for those 2 weeks since it has 2-0-0 nitrogen ugh, I need a Cal-Mag supplement without nitrogen, I know I can mix dolmite lime into the soil and I plan on it next grow but there is nothing I can do currently that I know of!

CalMag+ from General Hydroponics is Organic and does not contain any Nitrogen. I’m just a dump ass but I swear you have already givent hem lots of CalMag for them to go a watering or two without some.

I here you bro on the city living. I moved to the city for a high paying job and quit 7 days later just to move back to the woods. I was going to kill the bitch below me, when she started telling me what I could and could not do in the parking lot. Fucking fire truck and cop cars with siren blazing all night and city folks are rude as fuck. I held the door for one chick and she didn’t even understand what I was doing, she stopped stared at me then opened her own door while the old lady behind her kinda smiled, walked through the door I was holding saying “Thanks dear”. Money isn’t everything, I would rather be broke happy then rich and miserable.

Clawing can be from overwatering as well. I'm not hating on you it’s just one of those days I guess. Your plants are doing great. Can’t wait to see you harvest and what you yield. Peace.

Thanks for the helpful info on the CaMg+ I will have to look into it once I run out of what I have! I am pretty sure its a nitrogen issue with the clawing and you are correct about me giving them a lot of Ca and Mg already so yes the Grand AK which is the plant I am having an issue with will be receiving 2 watering of just plain ph'ed water, I am giving the Purple Cadillac a half strength nute watering though as she has not shown any signs of hating the nutes at all and have just thrived instead! As far as the city life goes, its not that bad, it would just be nice to move out a little bit further where me and my girl can at least have a yard and a little extra space. People in the city are rude, but some of them are the nicest people you will ever meet, at least to me since I moved from NY to SF.

one word, fuckinamazing!!
Thank you very much sir!

This is the pure ak i had two but one didnt make itView attachment 2521931View attachment 2521933View attachment 2521934i hope you guys like a little g porn
Those little ones are looking quite nice man, they will be big bushes in no time! Thanks for sharing, if you have a journal I would be more than happy to stop by and check it out! Please dont post multiple post/ pictures of what you got going on, one or two pics and a "hey, come check out my journal" is cool but multiple posts of someone else's grow takes away from the journal I am trying to create! Thank you for your input and I look forward to seeing a journal of your own!

Day 13 of 12/12

Ordered my fan and carbon filter today so we are all good on that. Watering tomorrow with just PH'ed water for the Grand AK and 1/4 strength nutes for the Purple Cadillac, no Cal-Mag plus this watering, gonna try and stick to adding the Cal-Mag on the non nute waterings. Heres a couple snapshot!

Is there a sneak preview of the fan and filter, buddy on this other thread that I’m following just got one heck of a buy.

Will the plants ever recover their green where the light bleached them?

http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0052ZPMAG/ref=oh_details_o00_s01_i02
No the plants wont recover from the bleaching unfortunately. As far as the fan goes, I got a bundle from HTG with a fan, filter, flange and speed controller for 190$ with free shipping. I was looking at that deal but I wanted the mounting clamps , flange and speed controller so I went with the HTG deal instead. GROW ON!
